Let me say that I really “want” this restaurant to be successful. Lucky thing is that in Midlothian, Texas, this doesn’t take much. With the other two major table-service Mexican restaurants downtown selling what tastes like canned food, that alone makes El Mexicano a no-brainer of a choice. Add the fact that the food is as hot and fresh as it is and with this, you’ve definitely got a winner. The food is fresh tasting, fresh prepared and thus you will not find tastier or more easily digestible offerings at any other Mexican Restaurant in the DFW area.
The only reason that I don’t give it a “5” is because I have eaten at the one by the same name in Waxahachie which is my favorite Tex-Mex Mexico restaurant in the country. Here’s why the Midlothian branch does not meet the Waxahachie standards: Favorite offering is “Tampiquena” and while this dish is consistent and perfectly prepared in Waxahachie, in Midlothian one day it will be overcooked, one day rare, one day very thick and another day very thin as well as randomly hot or cold Guacamole served with meals in artificial (green never turns dark in refrigerator so I am not sure what it is they are using for avocadoes) The musical ambiance; this is an OMG “please stop the twang”. Most crowded nights they have this homogenized FM “Spring Creek, Roadhouse, and any BBQ restaurant-like”country sound-track playing that makes me want to jump under the table when another one of those fabulous hits starts “twanging away”. Please use the conventional Mexican music that Waxahachie uses and thus provide a Mexican themed and enjoyable eating experience rather than proving that every restaurant in Midlothian or Mansfield Texas has to have some screechingly painful country music wannabe sound-track in order to be successful. Waiters are pre-occupied with other waiters. With near more waiters than tables, it is strange how during non-peak hours that they are so busy behind the bar laughing and cutting up that they cannot serve their 3:30 PM customers even when the waiters outnumber the customers 10 to 1.
Overall I’d rate this restaurant with “has a lot of potential” and if the management would like to see what to target, try out the Waxahachie location first as...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at El Mexicano Grill and Cantina, and I must say, it was a fantastic experience. The highlight of my meal was the Torta Cubana, which was absolutely delicious. The combination of flavors and textures in the sandwich was superb, and it left me wanting more.
To complement my meal, I ordered a Michelada with Modelo beer, and it was just right. The blend of spices and tangy flavors in the drink perfectly complemented the savory notes of the food. It was a refreshing and enjoyable choice.
Aside from the food and drinks, the service was excellent. I was warmly greeted at the door, and the waitress was incredibly attentive throughout my visit. She checked on me regularly, ensuring that I had everything that I needed throughout my meal. The staff's friendly and accommodating nature added to the overall positive experience.
Based on my wonderful dining experience, I can confidently say that I will definitely be returning to El Mexicano Grill and Cantina. The delicious food, well-crafted drink, and attentive service make it a top choice for anyone craving authentic...
Read moreFirst of all, let me start out by expressing the food is Amazing! The restaurant was clean, after that it was all downhill. We were a party of 6 for breakfast. We were seated with no menus, after about 8 min. Young lady came by and brought us 2 menus and 2 sets of silverware. Took our drink order - coffee and tea. Proceeded to wait over 5 min. & got the tea, we ordered 3 teas for the kids. We got 2 straws. We were never offered water. Another 5 min. We got our coffee & placed our order & got that last straw. Food came out in about 5 min. Asked the young man for more utensils, he never came back. Only 2 sets of silverware…. So we sat there another 5 min. Before we saw our server again. Offered a refill of coffee when we were done eating, table was never checked on. Had to flag her down for a ticket and to go boxes. Another 8 min before she got our card to ring us out. An hour and 40 min. For breakfast. They were not busy, maybe 6 tables with a total of around 25. The kids by this time were misbehaving. I don’t know we were treated so horribly, but we will not be back. It’s unfortunate bc the food...
