Professional Review and Feedback Regarding Recent Experience at Taziki's Mediterranean Cafe - Midlothian
Dear Owner/Management Team,
I hope this message finds you well. As a regular patron of your establishment, I have consistently appreciated the quality of your food offerings and the overall cleanliness of the premises. However, I feel compelled to bring to your attention an experience I recently encountered during one of my visits.
On Monday 5-27-24, upon entering your establishment, I was greeted by a disconcerting interaction that prompted me to reflect on the importance of training regarding discrimination and profiling within your staff. While I understand the multicultural nature of our society, it is imperative that all team members are proficient in distinguishing between cultural sensitivity and inappropriate assumptions.
Allow me to elucidate the details of the incident: As I entered the premises with my phone in hand, I was addressed by a member of your bilingual staff in Spanish, inquiring whether I was there to pick up an order via Uber Eats. My response, in Spanish, conveyed my disappointment at being profiled based on my ethnicity. Despite clarifying that I was not an Uber driver and expressing my discomfort at the assumption, the situation was exacerbated by further communication in Spanish from another staff member when I sought information about your menu offerings.
While I appreciate the diversity represented within your team, it is essential to underscore that your establishment, Taziki’s, is a Mediterranean café, not a solely Spanish-speaking or Mexican-oriented establishment. Consequently, assumptions based on ethnicity or language proficiency are both inappropriate and contrary to the inclusive environment that you strive to cultivate.
I believe that additional training and clarification regarding the distinction between discrimination and profiling would be beneficial for your staff members, particularly those who interact directly with customers. Encouraging open dialogue and fostering a culture of sensitivity and awareness will undoubtedly enhance the overall customer experience and reinforce the values of your establishment.
I offer this feedback in the spirit of constructive criticism, with the sincere hope that it will contribute to the continuous improvement of your business practices. Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I look forward to witnessing positive steps taken to address these concerns.
Yours...
Read moreFood was not as expected, nothing like Greek gyros or tzatziki. I had the "grilled vegetable feast" with a side of red potatoes. The plate looked awesome, the vegetables were grilled to perfection ... but, boy oh! Everything was drenched in vinegar to the hilt! It wasn't just tart but so sour it puckered up the hole in my sock! The balsamic dressing for the salad in comparison was sweet and very mild. I had to use that to counteract that sour taste of the veggies. My husband's gyros was boring, blah, no veggies in the pita pocket, barely a tablespoon of tzatziki... no, this was not gyros! The potatoes were nice, though. The floors were dirty concrete and looked like they were never cleaned with tracks in the high traffic area. The restroom floors were simply disgusting with three inches of grime along the bottom of the walls. Clear signs of swishing a mop around simply to evenly distribute the dirt but never a real cleaning. I wonder what the kitchen receives for cleaning? But that's ok because the food wasn't good enough to return again anyway. One last thing, when we ordered and paid for the food at the counter, we were asked how much we would add to the bill for the tip: 10%, 15%, or 20%. The only service we received was that someone brought us the food. We had to get our own drinks from the fountain. What hubris to ask for a gratuity when you really do not deliver...
Read moreMidlothian Location We tried this place tonight. The time it took to get the food was close to 20 minutes. We were going to eat in but due to the time it took to get the food we asked them to change it to go. The girl behind the counter then tells me, " well your food is ready but they don't know how long it's going to take them to put it into a to-go container". I told her to bring the food to me and a to- go container and I would do it myself. Apparently this is challenging and requires thought.
The food was meh and not a lot of it. I didn't even receive a full chicken breast just a few bite sized kabobs. While I did order kabobs, I was expecting more.
The soup was absolutely disgusting and sooo salty it wasn't even edible.
It was the first and last time I will visit...
