After an impromptu planned trip to visit friends in okc, we all met up at LA Herencia Grill. Our friend said it was a newer establishment and recommended it. The restaurant is adequately noticeable from the road so we had no problem finding it in the evening. The interior wasn't anything special, but luckily, I don't judge a Mexican restaurant by its appearance. Honestly, the best Mexican food I've had came from places unassuming, likely a hole in the wall or food truck.
We were promptly seated on a Saturday evening around 6:45. Moments after being sat, we were served chips and salsa. The chips were warm and tasted great. Their salsa was bright in appearance with a fresh great taste. The friend we were visiting bought the table a bean and cheese dip. It arrived in a plastic bowl piping hot with a great ratio of refried beans and queso blanco cheese dip. Between our party of 5, we demolished it in no time. It was absolutely great.
When our waiter first gathered our drink orders, I asked for spicier salsa. Unfortunately, we had to remind him 3 times before he brought it out to us. I would like to mention that our waiter was hustling between a lot of tables, and he kept up fairly well. As for the spicier salsa, it encompassed a different yet delicious flavor with a nice punch of heat.
Now on to the main courses. My wife ordered their enchiladas rancheras. The plate was loaded with 3 cheese enchiladas topped with grilled onions and peppers along with pork and upon request queso with a sour cream salad. Not only did it look good, but it matched its appearance in taste. For myself, I was enticed by their enchiladas Herencia. It comes with 3 chicken enchiladas topped with a habanero sauce accompanied by guacamole and beans, as they allowed me to substitute the rice.
The chicken was juicy and flavorful, while the sauce was a refreshing change from what is commonly offered at most Mexican restaurants. Although the sauce was delicious, I didn't really get the habanero flavor, let alone the heat. In all fairness, I prefer very spicy food with a heat greater than what a habanero would provide. As for the guacamole and beans, they were both good. I did sample a bite of shrimp with chipotle sauce from a friend that invited us out. The sauce had a nice smokey flavor from the chipotle with a mild heat. It complimented the shrimp very well.
From start to finish we had a good experience. Our waiter was overloaded with tables, but he did a pretty fair job. As for the food, it was overall delicious. When we visit the "city," we'll definitely keep LA...
Read moreFirst issue was with the drink orders. We ordered 2 horchatas and waited almost 20 min for them. Had we known it wasn’t prepared we would’ve chose something else. Next was the “set up” they only serve chips and salsa. You have to pay extra for queso.. you don’t get the usual queso, tortillas, & relish set up like other Mexican restaurants around here. And the queso was bland. We ordered 3 meals. 2 flauta lunches and my boyfriend ordered a egg and chorizo meal with rice and beans. Which we all enjoyed our meals until we were ready to go and began boxing our stuff, and my boyfriend pulled a long hair out of his rice. We called the waiter over and he just stared at the plate, not saying anything. Then just grabbed it and walked off. We waited to see if maybe a manager would come by and they never did. The waiter finally came back and told us the manager would ring us up. But of course we got to the counter and no manager, some guy hurried up and rang up our ticket. We had to ask to speak with someone about the hair 3x before what I assume was the manager came out. We told him about the situation and he just stared at us, and acted like it was my boyfriends hair which wasn’t even the same hair texture that was in the food. They offered us no apology or compensation, instead told us next time we come in he would give us half off. No thank you! There won’t be a next time. If this situation would have been handled differently we could’ve looked past the hair and gave it another try, but this really rubbed me the wrong way. So I won’t...
Read moreThe service stinks. They missed half the components to my chicken fajitas. I paid for uber eats and was told what do you want me to do about it? Do you want to come pick it up? No, I want to have the dinner I paid for. I didn’t paid for fajitas with no, beans, no lettuce, no rice, no sour cream. I’m left with tortillas and chicken.
I didn’t start screaming, I did start to raise my voice after you said what do you want me to do. You talked down to me like it was a completely unreasonable request to have the food I paid for and the only way to remedy the situation was to drive there after I paid for delivery or pay you all more money to get something for free when I order again.
I wanted a nice meal, it was my idea to order from you all because it was so good the last time we ordered. I didn’t get a whole tray of items to complete my meal. The idea that you all get to not provide me with an item that I paid for and paid extra to have delivered is unreasonable. Mistakes are made, but you need to fix it. If I can pay for Uber to get my food, you can pay for Uber to give me what I didn’t get.
Instead the response was oh well mistakes are made you can just eat what you got and be happy. Because I got some portion of my food so their won’t be and adjustment to my bill, you won’t bring me my food, you want me to put out extra expenses to get what you failed to send. It’s not okay. Your attitude stinks. I am disappointed because I would have continued to order from there if it...
