Akropolis Greek Restaurant — Restaurant in Midwest City

I have gone to this restaurant for many years. I guess these are the new owners. I continued to visit every weekend after getting introduced to a new gyro Indian taco because it was really good, I would tell the man on the grill how I wanted my meat cooked as I did the same this night and I’m always very satisfied. I will say every time I go it’s this lady working behind the counter that presents herself to the public nice but the entire time of your wait while their preparing your food you have to listen to her negative complaining to to cook yelling the entire time. I ignored her and laughed it off many times but I have to say something this time because my food was horrible. I will say they were very busy, there was almost a thirty minute wait. I ordered the gyro Indian taco as I said with the same special request to please put my beans on the side he always does wrapped in foil and how I like my meat prepared . I got no gyro meat at all and a lot of beans dumped on a piece of pita bread with a pinch of lettuce and tomato I guess that’s what that was and a squirt of sour cream on top. Just nasty! Needless to say i had to go back in to ask for a extra piece of pita bread that I didn’t get not realizing I had no gyro meat and this was a beans taco lol. No more business from Susan. I just wanted to let them know they won’t get my business anymore and the public what their service may be. GOTTA FIND...

When I arrived I was greeted nicely, I ordered a gyro basket and an order of mushrooms. It was around 7:30pm. After sitting and waiting a bit the guy behind the counter informed me that they were out of fries. Which he should have known before I ordered. We settled on additional mushrooms to make up the difference. So, while I'm sitting there waiting he asks if it is okay if he puts my good in a to go container, I figured they were trying to cut down on dishes so I said sure. Then, when my good was done he put it on the counter and told me to have a good day. In a way that meant get out of the store. I said I planned on eating there. He continued to tell me they only do to go orders after 7:30. He knew my order wasn't to go which is why he asked me if it was okay to put my food in a to go container. Then his co-worker who was a large sweaty woman said they were tired and needed to get out of there ASAP. Keep in mind they close at 8pm and at this point it was 7:30 at the latest. Plus my food was already in a to go container so if I sat there and ate it wouldn't have affected him and the sweaty woman running out of the door at 8pm. Was not impressed and will not be back. They are costing themselves business, because as we were having this discussion a party of 5-8 came in the door, the sweaty woman told them they couldn't eat there, but could get food to go. I heard this place had pretty good gyros. I happen to be in the neighborhood and I walked in just as they had opened. I literally waited 30 minutes for my order, They brought it to my table and everybody was nice. Who worked there?

The Gyro had pretty good meat portion but it wasn’t juicy and hot like I was used to from other places. I was most disappointed in the french fries because it was a small portion and it did not look or taste fresh, I was psyched because they were supposed to be fresh cut fries, definitely not good french fries. I probably won’t be back because I think it’s ridiculous to have to wait 30 minutes for your food. They weren’t super busy. I much prefer Athena‘s on Southside Oklahoma City. When I go to Athena‘s, I usually get my meal within 7 to 10 minutes and it is fresh and juicy. I would say akropolis is just average in my opinion. Not bad but nothing to write home about. I was considering making a special trip to midwest city to try this place out, I live in Oklahoma City and I will never make a special trip to visit this establishment again. I’ll stick to my regular place, much better in my opinion.
