Top Coffee Shop in Columbus!!

East African Coffee House is an absolute gem in Columbus! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by a stunning modern interior with cultural details that make the space feel warm, authentic, and welcoming.

I attended their grand opening and was truly blown away. I had the Vimto Mojito (so refreshing and unique) and a smooth latte that hit all the right notes. For food, I tried the meat sambosa and the spinach feta danish fresh, flavorful, and addictive. They also offered free sweets, sambosas, and drinks as part of their opening celebration, and that level of generosity really speaks to their Somali hospitality.

But it didn’t stop there, I went back the next day. And let me tell you: I had not one, but two Spanish iced lattes. That’s how good they make them. So many places miss the mark with that drink, but East African Coffee House absolutely nails it bold, smooth, and perfectly balanced. I also had more sambosas and honestly, they’re impossible to stop eating. I only wish I could take a box of them back with me to Michigan!

Whether you’re looking for a place to study, meet friends, or just treat yourself to amazing coffee and culture, this place is a must-visit. The staff is kind, the service is excellent, and everything on the menu is made with care. I’ll definitely be back every time I’m in town.

I can’t say enough good things about this place. My sister and I come here whenever we have time to and it really feels like it’s not meant to just be a coffee shop, but a warm space for the local community. Every single pastry I’ve tried has been fantastic—I LOVE their cheesecakes and their tomato + olive pastry. I had never tried Shaah or Qahwah before trying them here and I was blown away, they were so so good!! Both as an individual drink and as a drink to share with others. The people working here have been so lovely to the both of us every time we’ve come in, and the owners are such wonderful people. It’s very obvious to me that a great deal of love and culture were poured into this place, and I have my fingers crossed that it becomes a permanent staple. Other coffee places just don’t taste the same to me anymore, I love it here too much lol. I can’t wait to continue coming here (currently on a mission to try one of everything they offer) and I recommend it to everyone I possibly can! So so thankful for this...

Columbus just got blessed with this new East African coffee house, and it’s so worth checking out. The vibe is clean and cozy, and the energy inside feels warm and welcoming right away. The staff? Dope as hell—super friendly, down-to-earth, and passionate about what they’re doing. You can tell they genuinely care about both the culture and the quality of what they serve. The coffee is bold, smooth, and brewed just right. You can taste the richness without it being bitter—definitely something you won’t get at a chain spot. And let’s talk about the sambusas
đŸ”„đŸ”„đŸ”„. Perfectl flavorful! Whether you go with the beef or tuna, you really can’t go wrong. I had to go back for seconds. It’s refreshing to see a place bringing authentic East African flavors to the city with this kind of heart and soul. This isn’t just another coffee shop, it’s an experience.

Highly recommend stopping in if you’re nearby. Support this gem—you’ll be...

I tried the brown sugar oat milk shaken espresso that they recommended (something not too sweet) and the lotus milk cake. The drink was decent, but would probably be better if you prefer iced drinks. I rarely (or never) try iced beverages at coffee shops, in fact so rarely that I didn't realize a shaken drink meant it was iced 😂 The cake was good too, it was moist inside and frosting was good. The space is bright and clean inside with a good selection of muffins, cakes, and other bakery items. I might come back some other time to try a hot drink and another one of their bakery items

This place is wonderful!! I ordered the brown sugar shaken espresso which was so delicious and the almond danish. The pastry was out of this world. Service was so friendly, and it was a great vibe inside! Lots of people working and families hanging out. Had come with a friend and her kid, and they had high chairs, which was perfect. Service was so fast, and it was a pleasure to be there. Definitely check out this place, lots of great things on the menu I want to try!!! Prices are also very reasonable. The aesthetic inside is very comfortable and gorgeous.
