I waited a full week to post this.
TLDR: overpriced, trying too hard to be trendy, horrible (non-housemade) margaritas, decent atmosphere, food was just ok. They seriously need to reevaluate their menu and/or food (quality) choices. They don't even have Mexican hot sauces.
We've been waiting since its launch to come here. I was pregnant when it opened, and I couldn't wait for a date night.
I'm so sad. Sincerely.
We came in on a Saturday evening at about 5pm. There was a 25min wait so we found a couple of spots at the bar. We asked for a drink menu and the bartender said "we're known for our margaritas." I was sold because I planned on getting one anyways.
Well, it came out with huge, sloppy amounts of salt. It was warm so the ice melted pretty quickly. Then I realized it was tasting realllllly salty. I pushed through because I figured it was a fluke. Husband ordered one, after his "tequila old fashioned" (I did not like it, and it was $15). I got a second thinking it'd be better. As you can see from the video, there was a ridiculous amount of salt waiting at the bottom of of the glass. At that point, I asked for a new one. Sure, they did it, no question, but literally was the exact same. I looked over at another patron's margarita and saw the same amount of salt in their marg.
To add, I noticed pretty quickly that their "signature" magarita was literally a mix from the store (see pic, they didnt even hide it). Do I hate that mix? No. Do I expect better from an upscale Mexican restaurant that charges $10 per marg? Yes. It wasn't even a higher quality mix, like 1800. They just kept pouring the mix with tequila into a giant canister with no ice.
That was just the margs. I kept an open mind for our app.
He recommended the Diablo shrimp. Saying it was super spicy. We can handle spice and we love it so we said hell ya. It was mildly spicy at best. Then, we discovered it was about five shrimp with four PEROGIES. What. It made no sense. Shrimp and perogies? I love Polish but it just didn't make sense. The shrimp, however, was cooked well. The perogies were fine, albeit a weird choice, but they seemed so out of place and a filler. Then, once we finished, the entire bottom of the bowl was filled with grease. Pic posted.
Our entrée- we shared the (recommended) pineapple fajita with all three meets. It was fine, decent flavor, well cooked shrimp, pork and steak. We asked for some hot sauce. They had Chalula Chipotle which has zero heat, it's basically a bbq sauce that adds smoke flavor. The only other thing that had was Redhot. What. No Valentina? No Tapatio? No spicy salsa?? The pineapple seemed like a novelty and not something you'd ordered again, especially at $28.
That was my last straw. We left, gave a 20% tip on our already ridiculous bill, and vowed never to return.
I hope the owners see this and make changes because this has the potential...
Read moreWe've ate carry out which was good, but was on the expensive side. But here's we're it went wrong / bad to me! It's a Friday night, they say they are open till midnight online. I called to get carry out ( just a dessert and a pop to go ) no one answered the phone, so we stopped anyway on our way home, thought I will just run in and get it to go, oh and I need to mention it was 9:41 and again it says they are open till midnight. I went in, and a waitress came around the corner and said the kitchen is closed! If this is the case, then say online after 9:30 till midnight, all you offer is alcohol!!!! And then she said she would go in the back and see if she could still get it for me. She came back 5 minutes later and told me there is no one back there, so sorry I can't help you. Let me add there was another girl working the bar and 1 drunk abnoxious man hollering at me as I waited! I didn't feel very comfortable 😕 So after this experience I will not be back! I highly recommend to the owner's, if you are going to have a Mexican restaurant with a bar, then serve food and desserts, esp at 930- 10! Also as I waited I looked around and next to me on the window sill was a half empty plastic bottle of alcohol, which made me think the staff is drinking on the job as they close up the restaurant side! Not...
Read moreWe were really excited to try this place. It's gotten a lot of hype so far. We were severely disappointed. We started at the bar for a drink while we waited for a table. Bartender was brand new that day with no one helping her. She didn't even know where to find a drink menu or if they had one. We ordered margaritas, my husband ordered spicy. He was charged for their specialty drink that's spicy with peach; he didn't order that or get that but was charged for it. His glass had a huge chip as well. When we were seated the table was wet, like standing water on it. The hostess looked at it and walked away. I grabbed napkins from the bar and dried it myself. We sat and sat and sat and watched multiple servers walk by with no acknowledgement. The owner was too busy bussing tables and straightening menus to notice us. Finally after 15 minutes of being ignored we decided to leave. We stopped to tell the owner what occurred and he brushed us off. We said we were going across the street to our favorite, Charlie's, and he was not bothered and told us to enjoy. That was a tremendous disappointment. We will not be returning. P.S $22 for chips, guacamole and queso at a Mexican restaurant...
