We are so happy to have Cincinnati Distilling as part of our community. They have worked so long and so hard through the pandemic to give us this gem. It's so aesthetically beautiful, incorporating the original old architecture of the Millcroft, a fixture of our community with sleek modern architecture that holds the Distillery. There are a few items I think could be improved with the flow of the two restaurants at Cincinnati Distilling: Nations and Cincinnati Distilling. I'm being picky here, but if I were to be asked what is the name of the 2nd restaurant we ate at I couldn't tell you. The glassware said Millcroft Inn but I guess it's just called Cincinnati Distilling. If there was a sign outside... and there could be... I completely missed it, probably because I was in awe of the giant glass beautiful windows of the distillery. It's always just been the Millcroft so If you're from Milford you just call it the Millcroft. You come into the distillery through the old original entrance of the Millcroft, tucked away in a corner. Milfordites know it's there but I feel most people will go to the main entrance of the old house and that's where Nations restaurant is. There didn't seem to be any entry from inside Nations where we went in initially, to the distillery. We had to come out and go around to find the entrance to the distillery. Since it's completely separate from Nations Restaurant but on the same property, you have to go outside to see the rest of the historic building. Once inside, we watched a lot of people trying to find which door to open to get into the Distillery. Remember it's tucked into the corner in the old stone portion of the building! On one hand it's very romantic on the other it's mysterious. The burger was delicious. I loved that the tomatoes were stewed or pickled. I couldn't quite tell how they were prepared but man... were they good. So much better than slapping on two cold tomato slices. The best part of the evening were the chocolate chip cookies. They were so delicate and light and crispy. They fell apart as you picked them up and the vanilla dipping milk... DIVINE. IF YOU COME JUST FOR THIS DESSERT YOU WON'T BE...
Read moreI love the atmosphere and addition of the distillery to downtown Milford. The aesthetic is on par for the little town which is why I reserved a room for an after-wedding event. Instead of reception, we chose a dinner meal with close friends/family.
Pros: As stated, the atmosphere was perfect as well as location. Becky was our server for the night & she was fantastic (give her a raise). Not a single guest went thirsty or was left waiting at any point. The food was served promptly, piping hot and was absolutely delicious. Guests were big fans of the chicken sandwiches and the Couscous Cabbage Rolls.
Cons: From the jump, my communication with our event coordinator, Caleb, was not very reliable. I tried meeting him on 3 different occasions in which he had a "family emergency" each time. It was obvious we were being avoided after some time which was extremely nerve-wracking when trying to plan for a wedding. I confirmed the meals with him multiple times but was told the night of the event that one of my meals was eliminated from the menu unbenounced to me. I specifically chose a vegan meal (cabbage couscous) as I had vegan guests & the only reason these folks were able to eat that night was because Becky came in clutch for us and served it anyway so they did make it right. It was just unnecessary stress when the meals had already been confirmed. We were also told our guests could park in the parking lot reserved for Distillery Events. I told all of my guests to park there but it was already full of by the time we got there so my guests had to find parking on a busy Saturday night. In fact, my husband and I had to park quite far away and I had to walk through Old Milford in my wedding dress.
In conclusion, I think the Distillery is still a great hot spot for Milford & I would still visit this location for dinner. However I would certainly give it a second thought when hosting an event. The communication needs to...
Read more2nd time visiting and last. We were sat on time, great, ordered drinks followed shortly after our meal. Over 20 minutes passed and no drinks, not even the non-alcoholic beverages. Salads and appetizers arrive, still no drinks. One from our party went to the bar to see if they were up there, yep, and grabbed a few of our drinks. More time passed and our server acknowledged all of our drinks were ready but still didn’t bring them out. They had 3 bartenders, which the bar was not busy. I’m not sure why no one stepped in to help as our server appeared to have the entire main area. Our server came back out to tell us that they were out of an entree so 3 people in our group had to re-order. Food came out, almost everyone remarked it was cold. Sides we changed were wrong. Also a few dishes came out over 5 minutes after the 1st round of dishes came out. No check in of how our food was nor no bussing of tables. One couple ordered dessert, it never came. We were there for 2 1/2 hours and requested our bills and just done, but we waited and waited for our bills. Bills finally came out and at least the dessert ordered wasn’t charge. We were told some items would be comped, they weren’t. Someone in our group stepped aside to speak to the manager and we found out the GM doesn’t work on the weekends. While the acting manager did try to help make things better, it doesn’t surprise us that they had 1 turnover of tables. Most restaurants have 2-3x turnover of tables. While our service was horrible, we blame management. No one stepped in to help or check in during the meal. They can’t expect 1 server to practically run the entire main area. With our 1st experience being slow and cold food, our 2nd time solidified we...
