I don't ever waste my personal time writing negativity on bad experiences at restaurants. But it's only fair to put out a warning to other folks who may decide to visit Nautilus on a Sunday. DON'T! The male bartender that recently started working there the past 4 months is absolutely unprofessional and foolish. Now I visit this restaurant quite often and others as well. In all my years of ordering the same beverage...I was served a Blue Long Island in a rocks glass filled w ice. I asked the bartender why my drink was served in a rocks class as it has NEVER been served to me in a ROCKS GLASS. He told me "that's how it's done there." I tried to explain to him that I have always ordered that drink when I go there, and it has never been served in that type of glass. His ridiculous response was, "I've been a bartender for 20 years. It wouldn't serve the restaurant any good to serve that drink in a pint glass with the amount of booze that are in it (quite tacky if you ask me.) I can remake it in a pint glass, but I'd have to charge you double." He continued to try to go tit-for-tat w me and I had to shut down the conversation a couple times by saying the conversation was over and I would just leave and go somewhere else that knows how to appropriately serve customers. He charged me 13 bucks for a mixed cocktail drink in a rocks glass full of ice. I then asked for a receipt, and he threw it on the counter in my direction obviously pissed that I shut down the conversation w him without caring to listen to anymore of the nonsense he had to say about saving the restaurant a buck! Offended...I thew 50 cents back at him on the counter as a tip just as pathetic as his service. Then, I went to Hair of the Dog up the street and was provided awesome service and cocktails and enjoyed the rest of my night. Lesson learned: AVOID...
Read moreLet me just say I have worked in restaurants and I understand when there is a surge and influx of customers, but this was just a horrible experience. We left the other location where some of their staff was because they were no longer serving the food item, after they sold out. We wanted to still give them business so we chose to dine at their location.
We waited an extremely long time for service and food. It’s also frustrating when others after seated after you, served, and done prior to your food coming out.
The server(who we thought was the server) was apparently the manager, was not at all pleasant and just kept repeating the same excuse about the food. Ok we understand, but we went over an hour without silverware or napkins. When we finally got 2 out of the 10 items, we couldn’t even eat them because there was no silverware. Secondly, how do you wait so long for a soup and it comes out so cold. Yes, we asked for two soup items because generally they are prepped. Yes the soup and an appetizer came out, and the first soup was very cold.
The food was ok and it was brought out at all different times. When a guest from our table went to pay, the manger ignored them numerous times and flagged down someone else. The manager then came over and wanted to chat and explain again about how busy and understaffed they were. I was not the one paying so I do not know the outcome.
It was also hard to tell who the server was and who the manager was because of the understaffing, multiple people were approaching the table.
Very disappointing experience. I ended getting my soup after all the entrees and everyone ate. It was just a mess.
Maybe I would have had a better experience if it...
Read moreWe stayed in Walnut Beach this weekend & were excited to be able to walk to this restaurant. Giving it 3 stars because it looked like they were trying, but are not quite there yet. With the large beach community & walkabilty this place could do really well if they changed some things, the outdoor seating & open doors to the outside was great. Unfortunately something had happened to their fridge & they were out of all of the seafood dishes. There wasn't any communication to the staff so we didn't know this until after we had sat down and our drinks were ordered. We ended up with burgers which were very heavy and greasy, the fries & onion rings were soggy, the chicken fingers & chicken sandwich were over cooked. The bathrooms really needed to be cleaned & need repair. It looks like they are doing a renovation because it doesn't look like the pictures posted here, the wall with the Nautilus sign is half covered. The staff was nice, we actually talked to the owner she was really nice too. Had a good discussion about the quality of wines offered there, the glass I had was very good. The owner takes pride in having good quality wines which was nice. This place has alot of potential due to its walkable location, the ice cream place down the street was packed with lines out the door, this restaurant should be able to capitalize on that. However they really need to pull it together, given that this is the start of the summer season and it should be pretty busy for them. It was difficult to fully rate the restaurant due to the their fridge issue and not having everything available. I would go again and am hopeful they will have...
