My friends and I visited the Kafe Neo in Mill creek today for a late lunch. Everything was great up until we were to pay for our lunch. During our visit my friends did use the restroom and were accused of smoking in the restroom. I know for a fact that they did not, especially all of us working in the food and customer service industry ourselves. Their clothes most likely had smelt like they had smoked previously before attending lunch but not anywhere near the amount that it would be if they had smoked in the restroom. All three of us were confused and taken off guard when the server said "We would appreciate if you didn't smoke in our restrooms." and proceeded to walk away. My friends being out spoken and trying to make sense of the comment, went up to the manager and talked about the tone and the way the server spoke to them. The bartender decided it was her place to also rudely accuse my friends of smoking in the restroom instead of trying to find a possible alternative solution to the smoke problem. We weren't in conversation with the bartender even though she felt it was her place to overstep the manager talking. Being upset after having great food and the service was decent we proceeded outside to the parking lot to part ways. My friend and I decided to chit chat and smoke a cigarette together outside talking before we left and this is when the same bartender was walking to her car. We were minding our own business across the parking lot when the bartender decided it was appropriate to laugh at us and say "This is great!" and pulls her phone out and takes a picture of all three of us. This made us all even more confused! We had resolved the issue, paid and left. I have been to Kafe Neo for years and it has been one of my favorite restaurants to go to and spend time at but this experience was so uncalled for. After the bartender proceeded to take our photo, she drove away smiling and waving at my friends because they were clearly upset at how unprofessional she was being. I don't understand why she felt the need to continue acting that way. Once again we went inside to talk to the manager and he said he would talk to her and figure out why she was acting the way she did. I really would like to know why, and to see some action taken. It's totally unprofessional. I don't want to come back to a establishment if this is the way they treat their customers even if they think they did something...
Read moreWe had planned on going to another place but they had a 30+ minute wait. We kept walking and decided to go into this place, which had no wait. Two adults and two young children. The place was pretty empty so we assumed service would be fast. This was the last day my dad was visiting and we were hoping for a good quick meal before enjoying more of our day. We ordered our food pretty quick and got water fast. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. They came to our table a few times apologizing and said 5-6 minutes until food. Well. We probably waited another 45 minutes. Once you wait so long...you almost have to keep waiting. They didnt bring out any fruit or bread for the kids to snack on. They were starting to get really antsy and hungry. The food didnt have good presentation for the way the restaurant looked. The smoked salmon Benedict honestly didnt have any taste at all. Even with the sauce. My english muffin was super soggy. There looked to be a worm in some of my salmon. I couldn't finish it. They did take some of our bill off on their own. The owner seemed to be walking around but never came to talk to us...only send his waiter to talk to us. Good management steps up and makes things right and acknowledges disaster instead of passing it to employees only. Definitely not going back. The only good thing was my drink which was the special. And our waiter was a nice guy. But what a disaster for our last meal before my dad leaves. I literally had to go to frost next door to get a donut to get a different taste in my mouth. I normally can eat basically anything...but it just wasnt good. Super bummed. Also - the bacon came out cold and you could tell it had been sitting for at least half an hour. Hoping we dont get...
Read moreThis is my second visit to Kate Neo. Shout out to our server Allyssa! She handled our goofy behavior well. Note to diners: make sure you tip based on original subtotal before the adjustment from gift cards. The kitchen staff were very helpful regarding my sesame/tahini allergy. The pricing of the food is consistent with a very good restaurant in a lovely neighborhood. We were pleasantly surprised with our flavorful choices starting with the lemon chicken soup and the lentil one. My hubby is a lentil snob and liked this different preparation although he would have preferred a bit less on the tomato sauce. I loved the refreshing but not overly citrusy lemon rice soup. The timing between courses was perfect. My hubby is also not a gorgonzola person but ordered the pasta covered in it. He ate every last bit. The pasta had just enough sauce to not be overpowering. My mizithra brown-butter pasta was topped with a generous side of grilled chicken breast. This was not overly buttery or salty so that I could enjoy the cheese. It's not like my goto at Spag Fact that is smothered in butter. I like this one better i think because the firmer pasta and the robust cheese flavor. I really like the small intimate atmosphere where you can have a conversation with your tablemates. Even on the busy Friday it was relaxing. Plenty free parking on the street and side lot. You can walk off your meal afterwards. Staff greeted us coming and going. We will...
