I came here with a couple of local family members that raved about this places food. We tried calling in to see if they could take us because we understood that they are reservation only. No one answered the phone even though we tried multiple times. We figured we would take our chances and go there to see if we could get in. When we walked in the door, we were looked at like peasants and told that they had other reservations and that we would have to leave in about an hour. Fair enough. The place was almost completely empty. We were sat at a table and ordered our food. I'm pretty sure our waitress forgot how to smile because she kept looking at us like we were beneath her. Once our food arrived, I was looking toward the front desk and watched two couples come in that had the same issue as us, no one answered the phone, resturaunt is apparently booked, so now they've been turned away. There was another waitress and waiter who said very loudly to each other while walking past our table (the waitress to the waiter) that "It's a shame we have to turn away the right people because we already brought in the WRONG people". Now I understand this place seems to pride itself on being "reservation only" but for the horrible treatment and the "meh" food I think you have some getting off of your high horse to do Bistro 26. I definitely expected nicer treatment when the meal was 150.00 for 4 people. And by the way, the "wrong people" that you let in have way more money than you would know what to do with, and will gladly spend it somewhere else. I'll never forget this...
Read moreThis really is more of a 4 star restaurant with atmosphere and food but ultimately I like a good value and I don't think it's there for a lot of the meals. Presentation is great from when you walk in to when you leave. There's good selection and the soups are typically very good as are the desserts. The main dishes are where things falter slightly. Keep in mind the food is still good, but I feel like the quality of items is just slightly lacking. For instance the cheese seems like it's bagged no matter what you're having it on and the chicken seems like it came form a frozen patty that was sliced up and cooked. It isn't like a McDonald's meal but there are usually just one or two things mixed in that make it seem like the plate is just less than what it could have been. And really, for what you're paying, it probably should be. Most plates are typically $20. The lunch meals are a little cheaper and they do a good job with their sandwiches. However, because they couldn't charge as much on those for dinner, they only offer them in their noon time hours, which I thought was a shame.
Overall not a bad place to take the parents or a loved one for a night out...

We're kicking ourselves for not having tried out this place earlier, despite having heard so many good things!
As we came in on a weekday night, we were seated right away (they do take reservations too). The inside is family friendly and cozy, with some nice jazzy type music playing.
We started of with a delicious cup of creamy brussel sprout soup as recommended by our server. Then a salad with raspberry vinaigrette (they offer a good variety of other homemade salad dressings as well). The vegetables were fresh, and the provided bread was buttered and grilled well.
We tried the Bistro Crab cakes, Ribeye, and Filet mignon, wish mashed potato, sautéed veggies and gnocchi for the sides. Everything was delicious and seasoned well.
The star of the show was the Filet Mignon Au Poivre. It was one of the best filets we have ever had. The preparation in particular (cooked rare, as requested) was perfect. The meat was tender and flavorful. The generous amount of pepper cream sauce really complimented the dish.
Our server, Michael, was very attentive, polite, and professional. We enjoyed our experience here, and will be back to try...
