Cellar 22 — Restaurant in Millcreek Township

Cellar 22 came into my experience somewhat unexpectedly and I will admit that I pre-judged and assumed that this winery would fit into the same category as the other local wineries in North East and surrounding areas. I was delightfully surprised (the best way to be surprised) to discover that this winery deserves its own category and stands apart from the North East winery scene. The wines have an Italian feel, but are playfully unique among the Italian wine playing field. We sampled both a dry red and dry white flight and Ryan (our wine guide for the evening) expertly described the winery’s philosophy as well as each wines individual attributes. He made me want to sample everything. We enjoyed all the wines we tried, but especially appreciated amore and famiglia in the red flight and paisan and mario in the white flight. All the wines demonstrate an eclectic twist on traditional varietals that we found thoroughly satisfying. Came up to Erie for our yearly vacation and this popped up on me searches for a winery. It is five star on average for a good couple of reasons. It has a very chill atmosphere, and a nice little sit down area right outside when you come in. A local couple was there that we chatted for a bit, and they were very sweet and welcoming as well as the other patrons. The actual staff of the place was also very welcoming and nice. Then there is the actual wines. I normally prefer sweet wine, but they also had a couple dry wines I actually liked. If you have a chance to try their seasonal cran-apple do taste it. I ended up taking two bottles with me! It was that good!...

This was my first visit to Cellar 22. It's a nice cozy wine bar. The owner was friendly & welcoming. She explained about the wines she has. I was impressed with the antique table & chairs that the owner decorated with. This place is clean & cozy! There's a wine flight for sampling. You choose four wines. The portions for tasting are quite generous & the price is reasonable. There's outdoor seating. This place is located in a plaza with lots of specialty stores. I highly recommend a visit...
