UPDATED JULY 2025:
I can’t say I’m happy with the new change of ownership. I’ve been coming to Casa Cafe and Amigo as a regular now over the last year, and the change has been less than enthusiastic at Casa Cafe. Amigo and Casa Cafe used to have the same recipe at least for their Birria tacos for as long as I’ve been coming. Today was the first time we’ve been to Casa Cafe since the change in ownership. My birria taco now comes undressed, with a new bar of salsas, toppings for me to go and help myself (ok, fine) but I no longer get consommé. When I asked for a cup of consommé, I got a cup of pretty much oil and fat. The taco shell no longer had a nice char on it, it was just orangey and not crispy. My sister had a carne asada taco that had such grey, sad looking steak. Everything tastes blander than it used to. I’m so sad to see my favorite brunch establishment change their ways. I hope Amigo Taqueria doesn’t follow suit.
Last year’s review:
We finally found our favorite brunch spot in Erie, and of course it’s owned by the same people who own our favorite taco place (Amigo Taqueria & Botanas). The decor is fresh, inviting, and bright. Food is served quickly and the cashiers are all very polite and kind. But of course, the reason we’ll be coming back for more each time is the food. The first time we came and had the birria empanadas, which were perfectly crispy and not at all dry on the inside. The avocado toast was probably the best I’ve ever had—dressed with fresh pico and cotija cheese. It made the toast so much lighter and fresher. But the steak bowl was definitely stick-to-your-bone delicious with well seasoned steak and CHEESY rice. I had to stop myself from eating my partner’s food too. The family that owns these restaurants really know good food, and I’m so happy to be a regular and fed well each time. They...

This is my second time visiting this bakery it was just as good as the very first time. The staff is very friendly and helpful if you have any questions about their menu items. I tried their abuelita iced coffee, consisting of a mixture of coffee and abuelita chocolate plus a hint of hazelnut syrup, and it was delicious! Will definitely have to try their abuelita hot chocolate next time, since everyone is talking about it. As for my experience with their pan dulce, it was not really my thing since it was too dry for my liking (might be how it normally is, and I am just not familiar with mexican breads), but I do love their tres leche cake, and will be checking out their flan next. They also offer other food which I need to try.
The place is nicely decorated. with plenty of space to sit. They also offer free wifi with the password "Casacafe". This is definitely worth a visit when you come to the...
Read moreMy wife and I stopped here on our way to church after grabbing some coffee at Dunkin. This was our second time coming, and I knew I needed the same pastry I got last time, as it had been on my brain since its consumption. And just like last time, it didn’t last long enough to get a picture. Their pastries are perfectly sweet. Listen, I like mighty fine donuts as much as the next guy, but sometimes pastries like that can be too sweet for me. But the things they make at this bakery are perfect each time!
We ended up ordering food too, so I got a steak bowl, and she got empanadas. Yes, it was delicious and tastes just as good (if not, better) than it looks. You know the craziest part? ALL OF THIS FOOD (2 pastries, 2 empanadas, and a big steak bowl) was only $25.
Long story short, this place is a MUST stop. The atmosphere, the people, the food, and the prices are...
