IHOP — Restaurant in Millcreek

This IHOP location has quickly turned into a bad location. It used to be good. I had good servers, good food, and no problems with it. As of this past year it has been degrading in quality rapidly. Here are my experiences with this location that lead to my frustration:

1. Hair in my food twice. Earlier this year I was eating and had hair in my food. I brought this up with my waitress and she apologized and took my food. I thought she was going to bring back another meal without hair in it, but instead she brought the check. I was shocked but also in a hurry, so I ended up paying the check, even though I hadn't had more than one bite of my food. I wish i had received a comp meal or not had to pay. The second time was worse. I had once again found hair in my food and upon bringing it up, my waitress simply left. She didn't come back or take the food. A new waitress ended up coming to help me and she brought me my check. This time I confronted her about it and she said "this is just how we operate, if you're complaining you can go somewhere else." I was shocked at this response, but I still foolishly paid.

My most recent problem with them, that happened today (08/26/2023 from about 12pm-1:30pm), was that they scammed me. IHOP has a reward system that allows you to get free pancakes via their pancoins. I redeemed a short stack and full stack pancoin coupon and showed the waitress my code. My food was brought out as well as an additional two items that I had ordered. I had planned on paying for just those items, but not my pancakes, due to my pancoins promising me FREE pancakes. After enjoying my meal, (hair free this time) I was handed the check and shocked to see that it was $45. I had only ordered a sirloin tips and eggs and an order of crepes that were about $15 and $12. I expected to pay $27 plus tax and tip. Instead my check was saying $45 is what I owed +tip. I confronted my waitress about this and she said that their system was having troubles and I couldn't use my pancoins on these. I was frustrated, but I should at least have my coupons still right? Wrong, my coupons said they were used, but I didn't end up getting to actually use them. I was very frustrated and paid my bill and left.

I'm very disappointed with the service this IHOP has been providing this past year, and I have no plans to let me or anyone I know give them my business. I hope they are able to get their act together, because this...

The third time was NOT the charm at this location.

We went in for lunch and was seated immediately. There were only a few tables with customers, so we figured we would get served rather quickly. Boy, were we wrong!

After our server took our order, it took quite a while to get our beverages. After waiting for our food to come out for nearly 30 minutes, a different server approached our table and asked us to repeat our order because the "ticket didn't print for the kitchen staff". What???

Needless to say, we left.

I did leave a review on their website, and the manager contacted me two days later. He tried to make it right by offering us a free means, but I declined.

You see, this is not the first time we have had an issue with this location. The first time we went there, they were really busy but the kitchen staff were keeping up with the orders. The problem was that the serving staff was not as efficient. There were multiple tables worth of food in the window, and the servers were not getting the plates out to the tables. The manager finally stepped in and got the food out, but by the time we got our food, it was cold and disgusting.

The second time we went there, it wasn't terribly busy. Not even a half full restaurant. But it took forever to get our food. Luckily, it was hot, but we waited for nearly 45 minutes. For as slow as it was, it shouldn't have taken that long.

I appreciate the manager reaching out and making the offer to make it right, but after three strikes, you are out!...

EDIT: Visited 9/20/2026 had breakfast. Our server, Mariana, was super rude. I had ordered bacon extremely well done as well as well done hash browns with my breakfast and recieved the bacon droppy and slimy. The hash browns were gelatinous on the inside. When i asked her to have the cook redo these things she rolled her eyes. I was very polite as i appreciate the plight that servers face. The cook also did not read her order and was equally to blame. That being said, not everyone should be a server or a cook. I blame the manager for doing a poor job of vetting the employees prior to hiring them. OLD REVIEW: Visited June 10th 2023 for breakfast. I ordered a French Toast combo with scrambled eggs. The server placed a small coffee pot on the table which was awesome. I also ordered an orange juice which was very tasty and the server served it pretty full. Also a nice win. This restaurant uses electronic tablets to take orders which seemed to eliminate any guess work for the cooks. Great work iHop! Would definently visit...
