One of the most unpleasant dining experiences I’ve ever had.
I visited this restaurant with my parents, and we initially planned to order biryani. However, the waiter — a young kid — enthusiastically told us it was “Dosa Night” and offered what sounded like a great deal: buy one dosa, get three free. Excited by the offer, we ordered dosas.
As we were eating, a woman who appeared to be the manager suddenly approached us in an extremely rude and aggressive manner. Without any greeting or courtesy, she started accusing us of taking advantage of the offer, saying, “This combo is for ONE person only. You can’t do this. This is not fair.” When I tried to explain that her waiter never mentioned any such condition, she snapped at me and said, “Have you gone to school? Don’t you know that’s how it works?” — a truly shocking and insulting thing to say to a customer.
She then stormed off into the kitchen and began yelling at the poor kid who served us. It was clear he was just trying to do his job and didn’t deserve the verbal abuse. He later came out and apologized sincerely for the confusion, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, we still ended up being charged for two dosas. To top it off, the manager claimed she would “take care of it,” but then secretly charged us and told us that the kid would have to pay for the third dosa out of his own pocket.
This entire situation was mishandled from start to finish. Miscommunication happens — but it should be handled professionally and respectfully. Instead, we were met with hostility, insulted, and made to feel like we did something wrong when we simply followed what their staff told us.
I rarely write negative reviews, but this experience left a really bad taste. I hope the management reflects on how they treat both their customers and...
Read moreI've been a loyal customer of Tandoor since moving in nearby 3 years ago, eating here on average twice a month. Most of my experiences have been pleasant, but recently the quality of the food and service has been dreadful. Last night I ordered a Chicken Tikka Masala online for pickup, waited 30 minutes then arrived at the restaurant at the designated time to grab my food. Upon arriving, I told the cashier what I was here for and they told me it wasn't ready, then disappeared. I was forced to sit there for 25 minutes waiting for my food, and not once did a staff member acknowledge me or apologize for being delayed. Terrible service. Another guy in front of me was so aggravated he just got up and left without ever receiving his order. The worst part is, after waiting this long for my food I finally got it and went home to eat. But with just one look at the Tikka Masala I could tell it was very poorly made - essentially boiled chicken floating in a flavorless tomato broth. It was hands down the worst dish I've ever had from an Indian restaurant. Clearly, whoever cooked this couldn't have cared less about creating something edible. After wrestling with the decision of what to do, I decided to call Tandoor back and explain that my order was so bad I couldn't eat it, and that they needed to check in with their kitchen to figure out what the problem is - because clearly there was a massive problem. The man on the phone cut me off as I was speaking, saying "no no no", then hung up the phone on me. Unfortunately I will not be returning to this restaurant again, and I strongly advise you to find a better company to...
Read moreVentured here on a Tuesday evening, when it was not busy at all, trusting their 4 star rating, they still could not manage a decent level of service. Some things that contributed to our 1-star experience were:
Waiter had absolutely zero clue about what is available in the kitchen and what not, which is critical as they did not have half the items we wanted to order.
They took our order and when they served us, they just didn't bring some of the items.
When we asked, the manager told us to just forget about what we ordered, and then the waiter and the manager started arguing. The waiter complained that they never tell him anything about what's in the kitchen. Can you please just apologise and sort it out later amongst yourselves!
I don't know what passes for Indian food in this area, but that was the worst Indian food I have had in the US. Absolutely not spicy, a tad sweet, and they forgot to add salt to any of the dishes. The chicken also seemed hard and dry.
Even with only 2-3 tables occupied, they still managed to check up on us not even once. We wanted to get out ASAP, but they were nowhere to be found to give us the check.
It's been just 2 hours since our dinner, and one of our friends already has an upset stomach.
I always make a point to tip generously as any one member of staff can have a bad day, but it takes real effort for every member of the staff to come together and make your experience truly terrible. Could not justify even 5% tip, as that would be unfair to other members of the industry who at least make an effort.
Never coming back to...
