TL:DR - Food was surprisingly good, service was... ehheh... interesting.
Passing through ole Delaware, I stopped at Mill Pond Family Restaurant. The food was good. Had a sandwich, fries, and salad. The sandwich came out hot and fresh. The salad was "standard issue food service" but fresh. And the fries are batter fried. So those were particularly tasty. I was nothing but pleased with the food.
The curious part about the restaurant was the staff though. They were friendly. But judging from conversations I overheard between the dining room manager and the wait staff, they're a bit overworked. The manager had to nag the wait staff to get another table's food that had been ready for a while. And my order did take a while to get out. Judging from their outfits, it looks like some of the staff work in two different locations and are stretched a little thin. Now... it's not my place to tell another business how to operate. Especially in the Post COVID economy. But they may want to check staff morale. And compensate folks that have to work both locations.
But I'm going way off topic when it comes to food and service. The food is good. It's "family diner" and while it didn't "knock my socks off", it wasn't bad. Just be sure to show your wait staff...
Read moreWent to this restaurant, which we have been to many times before, on Saturday afternoon. There was only 2 other people in the restaurant. We were seated in the booth behind them by a gentleman. Two waitresses and this gentleman were seated on the other side of the partition talking. One waitresses came over to talk to the people in front of our table then walked right past us. They were over there talking for about 10 minutes, about one of them leaving to pick up her husband because his car wasn't working. We still had not been approached for our drink order. We got up and left, and nobody said a word. It's a shame that this happened because we did enjoy the food there previously. We will not be returning and will pass on our experience to neighbors...
Read moreTried to grab breakfast around 8:30 on Sunday morning. Restaurant was at half capacity and I noted four wait staff on the floor so appeared adequately staffed. We were promptly seated and provided menus. As additional customers were seated, I noted that each received water and asked if the table wanted anything to drink. We still hadn't received water. A few minutes later, these same tables are getting their coffee and juice orders and placing food orders. We still don't have water and no one has stopped by to say they would be right with us. When the first of these tables received their food, we decided it wasn't our day and just decided to leave having never...
