Tried this place for the first time today and will also be the last. When we walked in and saw how the place was set, I automatically knew it wasn't an actual authentic Mexican restaurant even though they claim they are in their name. That was the only reason we came. I should have looked at the photos more closely, you can tell its more so a Mexican-American restaurant by the foods people have posted. But we decided to give it a try because it did have a 4.5 start rating. We were seated and waited five minutes for someone to start us off with some beverages, the lady came back with our drinks and they were actually good and were homemade. Then a different server came and took our order and also brought a small plate of chips and salsa. The plate barley had any chips and the salsas were cold, so you can tell they were already premade and who knows how old and how long they been sitting in the fridge. The chips also tasted rancid! Probably made a whole batch to last them a couple of days. Then we proceeded to ordering our food. I got a chicken torta, my brothers got the steak quesadillas, my mom ordered the tacos al pastor, and the guacamole fajita special was ordered by dad. The food came out fairly quick, but once we had the plates in front of us, it was not what we were expecting. To begin, my torta was absolutely disgusting tasted horrible. It had absolutely no flavor, there was shredded bland chicken, a real authentic Mexican torta has breaded chicken breast with queso Oaxaca, refried beans, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, jalapeños, and the bread should be lightly toasted as you can see in the picture below. This thing as you can see in the first picture was just disgusting. The bread was even toasted and it had more jalapeños then beans. It fell apart so easily as I was eating, the next thing we were disappointed with were the steak quesadillas. They came out looking like the quesadillas they sell at taco bell with a side of sour cream??!!!!! Tacos al pastor were flavorless as well, tasted to much like paprika, and were not filling, finally the so called guacamole fajita special or whatever its called was yet again another disappointed. We thought it came with a big bowl of guac, but it was literally a small salsa cup of guacamole with a side of beans, and dry rice. It was just overall a complete disappointment. All food is flavorless, its not authentic at all, they dont even have napkins, they wanna be all fancy and have fabric napkins that dont even absorb anything. And not to mention it was a total of $116 for bland food. As real Mexicans from Michoacán Mexico, we like authenticity. Super spicy, same day made salsas, with handmade tortillas. Not the flour tortillas, daisey's sour cream, American cheese, and boxed rice...
Read moreI must begin by stating that our server was excellent! Very kind and professional. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond her control, our dinner with visiting friends from England was a disaster. It all began when two of our guests ordered coffee as their beverage. They first received a cup and saucer after a 20-minute delay. It was an additional 15 minutes before the coffee arrived at the table. We were informed that the coffee pot was being cleaned. I must state that we have had many satisfying meals at this establishment. This is why we chose to dine at El Guacamole after touring the galleries this evening. There were two small parties, a few couples, and a few take-out orders prepared while we were present. By no means did we expect to wait more than an hour to receive our meals. The meals for our party of six consisted of quesadillas, burritos, and a salad. I was fortunate enough to receive a very pleasing meal, but unfortunately, the remainder of the party was left disappointed. Most items were just moderately warm to the touch, as if they had been sitting under a heat lamp for quite some time. The vegetarian quesadilla was inedible and was removed from the bill. It was ordered with only cheese and peppers. After the one hour wait, it was brought to the table, then taken away to correct a mistake, we were told. When it returned, it was soggy and cold and contained a miniscule amount of peppers. I do not understand how a quesadilla, which is made to order and literally takes minutes to prepare, would come to the table cold. In all, it was a disappointing ending to a...
Read moreMillville is fortunate to have El Guacamole restaurant right in the center of town. My wife & I had the pleasure of eating some wonderfully well prepared and served Mexican food Monday night. El Guacamole is immaculate and airy with none of the foo-foo dust imitation entrees the Mexican wannabees serve. Authentic is the word. The seafood Fajitas loaded with shrimp, scallops, calamari and white fish was served piping hot on a sizzling iron plate with sides of delicious guacamole, rice and beans. The portion was enough for two dinners. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her Avocado salad. Our server was a sweetheart – very friendly and helpful in dissecting the menu. We will definitely return with friends.
Back again, 6 of us, last Saturday night. Just when you think things couldn't possibly be any better, Eric and his staff hit it out of the park. Great, friendly, efficient service and food fresh and hot. Everyone was pleased with various options. The Tacos de Barbacoa was a special - 2nd time we've had it there and Eric is proud of how well it's been received. Happy to have El Guacamole so close to home and be able to enjoy really authentic, well-prepared Mexican food and enjoy the great...
