DINER BEWARE!!! Ace's waitresses "tack-on" what they call NON- CASH ADJUSTMENT to the total on your receipt. Only restaurant I've ever been to that does this. Actually, I think it's really chintzy. El Cheapo!!!! Basically they're charging patrons that pay with plastic. Seriously. Basically, it's a couple extra bucks. (@ $2.00) Here's what you really need to be watching out for: It's gonna show on your receipt when they bring you your ticket. Before you've even paid. They don't ask, they just add it on. Happened to the wife and I tonight. Except, we were paying cash. Server never said a word. Just took our money. But, it bothered me. Embarrassed my wife that it bothered me. After my wife exited the restaurant, I walked over to our server that was ringing our ticket at the register. So, I asked our waitress. She said, "oh yeah, we have signs up about that charge". But, then I reminded our waitress that we just paid her with cash. Then, the waitress tells me, "oh yeah, well when that happens we take the charge off and give you back the difference". At this point, I'm just looking at her in disbelief. She never even made any attempt. She realizes my dead stare in response to her last remark. Then, she offered to refund the illicit charge. I told her "keep it". Then, she looked at me embarrassingly and confided "Alot of the time, we just don't say anything, we just keep it". You know what, Reader? I so believe her. But, there's one small problem with that.... IT'S THEFT!!! The last thing I said to her before leaving was "I'd be careful doing that. You could get yourself into some trouble doing that". Next, my thoughts are of Ace's management. You (Management) total the credit card receipts nightly along with cash sales. You are culpable. You should be held accountable. This is not good. If you're flipping 100 (cash sale) tabletops a day. That's an extra $200 a day. $1400 a week. $5k+ a month. Hmmm. Don't worry. I...
Read moreI came to this place for a goodbye brunch I had before I left my hometown to come back to my current town, Orlando. I came here with a bunch of guys around 9AM on a Saturday, and I was expecting it to be packed, but turns out it was actually not too bad, and we got seated right away. The atmosphere and decor of this place was simple and effective. They try really hard (or not too hard at all) to be the simple, down home, country joint that cooks good food. The menu covers were license plates, which is a super nice touch.
So I ordered the thing that I have ordered every single time I have ever come here, the thing that I was brought to this restaurant for the first time for, the BB's Breakfast (2 biscuits covered with sausage, potatoes, scrambled eggs, and gravy). This thing sounds super Southernly decadent, and it is. The biscuits are made in house, and the gravy is just everywhere, but the taste isn't too overwhelming. It's more of a vessel for the sausage and potatoes and the eggs to live in.
The sausage is crumbled and good and peppery. The potatoes are in big cubes and crispy and cooked all the way through. And the eggs are scrambled. Everything just comes together and made one scrumptious dish. I saw my friends' waffles that they ordered, and I got jealous and ordered one myself. Cooked fresh and just what you want a waffle to be. I washed down my meal with their sweet tea, which is super sweet, just like you'd expect in the South.
Overall, this place is definitely an above average place if you want a nice, simple breakfast with no fancy stuff, and I definitely recommend this place if you're from around the area or even just visiting the Pensacola area. It's not too far...
Read moreWorst service and food ever!!!! I know they were busy but it's no excuse for the food that was brought out to us after a really long wait. The food was not even correct. When I tried to talk to a manager /owner, he didn't want to listen to me AT ALL. He cut me off during mid sentence and left to give me a "discount" on my meal which I couldn't really eat. The discount was like $2. He had the worst attutide and kept telling me that they were really busy during the few seconds he was at our table. I know that but as I looked around I was not the only person upset or irritated at the service. So I guess if they are busy STAY AWAY according to the owner because you will not get good service or food!!!!!!!!! I will not be coming back to this place and hopefully everyone else will do the same. I would not have given them a star but had to in order to right this review. Stay away during the busiest times because according to the manager/owner you will not get good service or food. Plus do not complain because it doesn't matter to anyone. These people don't care at all if you have a...
