We went on the Distillery tour on Monday 12/30/24. Hands down the worst tour we ever been on. The tour started off with the tour guide asking a few questions then him recognizing people that were on his tour a few days prior. The tour was focused around them. He kept talking to them asking hey do you remember what I told you guys on Friday. Very frustrating as I was there to learn of the process and how the distillery started at Dogfish. The guide should have just explained everything for everyone. We started by being shown the brewery area where beer is made to be distilled. We then went to the R&D bar and sampled a beer. My fiancé and I looked at each other and said aloud why are we having beer on this tour? The tour guide continued to have side conversations with his friends. We then went to the distillery room which was small and we were able to gain access by him getting a key from on top of an electrical box outside the room. He didn't seem to know much about this area but could reference history from the 1500's which is not what we were there for. What he did know, he couldn't explain. He mentioned that all the bottling and labeling was done in that room. When asked by a guest he said "yep they roll 2 tables in and fill and label them here, well actually they get labeled somewhere else" upon leaving the distillery room he turned the lights off while people were still in the room. Was disappointed that nothing was being distilled. We then went back to R&D bar. He poured us 4 samples of spirits, one each for himself too, which all were larger pours, the same with the canned cocktail. He went back to talking more history and to his friends. We couldn't wait to get off that tour! I checked out half way through it. We got a flight card to use after the tour, I wanted 3 of the cocktails and 1 beer, the guide was the bartender, and said you can't mix flights, either all beer or all cocktails, although the lady said when we checked in we could sample whatever! Does everyone lie at this place!! We didn't even use the 2nd flight card! I tried reaching out to Dogfish Head, and so did my fiancé but we got no response. I honestly think the tour would have been better with a different tour guide. No need for...
Read moreDogfish Head Brewery in Milton is an absolute must visit, whether youâre new to DE or you live here, itâs one of the cooler places in Delaware and truly defines the craft beer scene. Dogfish with the combination of Boston Brewing is the largest Independent craft brewer as well.
We came on a rainy Sunday afternoon to grab a few brews and try their spirits.
Everything we tried was delicious. The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable, guided us through the selection and were attentive and made we sure we never had an empty glass.
The beer selection is obviously the focus but theyâve put a lot of time into developing a great spirit selection as well. Using local ingredients and partnering with other local small businesses which I think speaks volumes about what Sam and Mariah have created with their team. No matter how big Dogfish has become theyâve stayed true to staying local and supporting local.
The parking is very big so plenty of room. They also have several different tours starting at $5 for the basic tour lasting about 25 min to the longer more immersive tour that lasts about an hour. They also have a distillery tour if you want to see how the spirits are made.
The tour will also take you into their Steampunk Tree House which is super cool and has an awesome history.
Thereâs also a huge gift shop that offers all kinds of apparel, swag and merch.
If youâre feeling hungry they have a small menu that has rotating soup, charcuterie board, pulled pork, pizza and a Bavarian pretzel among other snack options.
Great experience...
Read moreDogfish Head Brewery is a brewing company based in Milton, Delaware founded by Sam Calagione. It opened in 1995 and produces 262,000 barrels of beer annually. The company also has a restaurant called Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats along with a seafood restaurant called Chesapeake & Maine that only sources seafood from the waters of the Chesapeake Bay and Maine. Both are located in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Look out for those reviews as well. Now back to the Brewery.
Food: They own and operate their own awesome food truck out side the taproom. Serving everything from soft pretzels to a variety of delicious brats. Everything is infused in some way or the other with their own beer like their delicious Sauerkraut which is made with their 90 minuet IPA. Genius!
Brew: the best craft beer in the market! Not only they welcome you with a huge smile and hello but they are generous enough to give you a card for a free 5 beer sampler upon arrival. You pick from their menu the 5 beers you want to try and write it down on your card. They will tell you the best order for them to serve it based on ABV and characteristics.
If you want to make the trip even more special they offer free brewery tours and one that comes with a price but super worth it and limited daily. I suggest for you to check out their website for the full details and give it a shot. Go Big and spend extra for the value tour. There is also a gift shop selling cases of hard to get beer like 120 minuet IPA and apparel.
I will definitely be taking another road trip from NYC there again...
