I ordered takeout. I had called to ask if my order was ready and the girl said, "probably not.You ordered a lot of stuff." Then she said, "Well maybe." I waited a minute thinking she would check but it was just awkward silence. So I told her I would just see when I got there. My order was 2 salads 2 burgers and a medium pizza. Not a large order. I walked in and there was a girl standing in a corner behind a booth. It was unclear who I should speak with. She sort of head nodded to me and I could barely hear her. I told her my name and she went to check my order. I could see her getting the order together. I saw the order didnt have sides of ketchup or salad dressing. She took my bag of food and placed it on the takeout area floor. Near her foot. The floor was cement and dirty. I was horrified. She brought the food to me and I said there is no ketchup sides. She stared at me like a deer in headlights. I said can you get me sides of ketchup and dressing for salads. She said the dressing is in there and I have to charge you for a side of dressing. I checked the salad and there wasn't a dressing in the one I had opened. She heard me make a comment to another customer that I hope she doesn't charge me for a side of dressing because it's not on the salad and I said she had placed my order on the floor. The other customers had seen this and were disgusted. She came up to me with an attitude and said what's the problem?" I told her she put my food on the floor and it's against health code. She said "well its in a bag." I asked "would you like your food placed on the floor?" She said "I personally wouldn't care because it's in a bag" to which I said "the health department cares for the protection of the people eating it" Then she said "I'm only 15 and this is my first job" I told her she should use this as a learning lesson to never do that again. Someone else then came over and rang me up. I said you should watch her she has an attitude. While I understand the situation and the mistake and we all start somewhere and learn, I think this girl needs more training and supervision before being left alone to...
Read moreI have had my reservations messed up the three times I have made them. The first was through Google, so I can't fault the establishment as I never talked to anyone.
The next visit was over the winter of 2023-2024. We reserved (via phone call) an inside table for 7, instead we were seated at an outdoor "fire pit" table inside of a plastic pod that was big enough for 5. It was a windy night and the pod was falling apart, so the flame in the table took up a decent amount of the already limited space (1/5 atmosphere). This led to a pretty awkward dining experience of shuffling/stacking plates and tripping over each other to use the restroom.
During the most recent visit, they had no record of our called-in reservation. After waiting 30 minutes for a table, we had to wait an additional 30 minutes for water. It was in the 80s and we were seated in the sun. Regarding the food, we got the cocktail flight that looked nothing like the advertised photos on social media. The surf & turf sandwich has steak that was grey and a lobster tail that was bouncy/rubbery. It literally had the presentation of being microwaved (3/5 food because the pizza always slaps).
The best point in the owner's response is why would we visit. I had given the restaurant the benefit of the doubt after two hiccups regarding the experience, but I don't see any reason to return going forward. Dogfish head has better cocktails, better service, and comparable food. All while being...
Read moreThis was a really mixed experience. The food was good (the garlic fries especially), and I would go again, were it not for our truly strange service experience. The short version is that our waitress seemed determined not to be helpful. I say this as someone who has worked in food services, and understand the experience.
Our table had been seated for half an hour, without any staff stopping by. We finally walked up to a team member and asked for waters. She was surprised that we hadn't been helped, and sent over another waitress to take orders. This waitress announced that we were not in her usual rotation of tables, and unenthusiastically took orders. Another fifteen minutes pass (45 minutes in), still no waters or food. We again approach the wait staff, and finally get water. The food arrived, we ate, and then we sat, and sat, and sat waiting for the check. We once again flagged down a random member of the wait staff to get our checks. Nothing. We then flagged down our assigned waitress and a second time requested our checks, which were finally delivered. We really just wanted to leave
We had to ask our waitress to do her job at every turn, and it seemed like the other wait-staff were having to cajole and direct her. I would understand if she was new, and she was trying her best, but that wasn't at all what was communicated over our 2+ hours there. I want to believe that we just caught her on a bad day, and that this...
