My son and I came here with high hopes, as we had heard good things about this restaurant. Unfortunately, our experience didn’t meet those expectations.

The restaurant was busy when we arrived, around 6:20pm, but we were able to get a seat relatively quickly. However, once seated with menus, it took about 10-15 minutes before anyone came to take our order. We ordered drinks and food all once so we wouldn’t have to wait again. The restaurant atmosphere was typical of a Mexican restaurant, but the outdoor seating had a nice waterfront view. Drinks came, and we saw other tables that were seated after us served food before we ever got ours. We finished snacking on the complimentary chips and salsa while waiting for our food (salsa was good, chips were incredibly stale). It was another half hour for our food to come. I got the carne asada street taco platter and my son got the hamburger and fries from the kids menu. The food was mediocre, neither good or bad. So can’t complain too much. The server never came to check on us after serving our food, we sat with empty plates for a while. When she finally came over I asked for our check.

I have mixed feelings. Our server, although very untimely and inattentive, was friendly.

We will likely return to give it another shot. But for now I can only give...

Five-Star Review for Tequila Real in Milton, Delaware

If you’re looking for a culinary experience that transports you straight to the heart of Mexico, Tequila Real is the place to be! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and genuine hospitality that set the tone for an exceptional evening.

The food? Absolutely phenomenal. Every bite was bursting with authentic flavors that took me back to the vibrant streets of Mexico. The attention to detail in their dishes is second to none, from the perfectly seasoned meats to the fresh, zesty salsas that had just the right kick. Their margaritas? A masterpiece. The balance of flavors was flawless, and you can tell they take pride in crafting every drink.

The service was equally outstanding. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, answering our questions about the menu with enthusiasm and ensuring our experience was nothing short of perfection. Attentive, friendly, and professional, they truly elevated the dining experience.

Tequila Real is a hidden gem that deserves every bit of praise. Whether you’re a local or just passing through Milton, do yourself a favor and stop by. This is authentic Mexican cuisine at its finest, and I can’t wait to come back for more. Five...

Got rained out on our hike so we stopped here for lunch before heading back to Dewey. This is our second visit here and it's quickly becoming one of our favorites, love the friendly vibe & the authentic decor. Yasmin was our server and she went above & beyond, always making sure we had everything we needed. Today we shared a Street Taco Platter - 2 Pastor & 2 Carne Asada Tacos, Rice, beans, guac & salsa verde. The meat was all seasoned perfectly and was very tender and I love the veggies in their rice too. Each meal comes with complimentary chips & salsa & another dip that tastes like ranch but sweeter - both fresh & delicious. They have an assortment of frescos, the pina pineapple was on point - very refreshing. They have lots of outdoor seating which we hope to take advantage of on a future visit when the weather cooperates and plenty of parking, both out front as well as on a private lot and with the pond right outside you can enjoy a nice view while chowing down on some of the best authentic Mexican food in the area & they practice safe covid guidelines so all you need to worry about is which meal to choose,...

First visit to Tequila Real. First, they are very friendly when you get there. Got a table quickly even though they seemed a little busy for early on Saturday. Chips and salsa we're good. Ordered a margarita as is usual when going to a Mexican restaurant. I was a little disappointed with the margarita. Little flavor and little tequila in my opinion in their house drink. Ordered a second drink and asked for a double of their top of the line margarita. Lot more tequila but still not a good natural tart limey taste I was looking for. But anyway, it worked. Got the food fairly fast and the food was good. Ordered the chicken enchiladas with beans and rice. The enchiladas we're good but a little light on that Mexican flavor and spicyness you want from Mexican food. Beans were good and the rice was ok. I noticed that most items were light on flavor and spicyness that I expect with Mexican food. They may be addressing older and/or family patrons instead of hardened Mexican food junkies like my wife and myself so all I can say is the food was good and fresh and the wait staff did a good job.

Honestly the only reason I gave 4 stars was because the good was better than AVERAGE. There is NO parking. The outdoor seating is near a fishing spot where people were smoking. There is no good signage to direct where to go to be seated and several people looked at us and didn't offer to help. We finally asked where to go and were seated. The waitress approached our table and took a drink order right away but after 15 mins, another waitress came to our table and took our drink order again. We received drinks afterwards that clearly had been sitting for a while. I ordered a frozen pomegranate margarita that was liquid and my husband ordered a house margarita on the rocks that barely had any ice. The chips were stale and the salsa tasted like tomato paste. The white sauce was bland. I had the yolandas and my husband had the cheesesteak tacos. Both entrees were good. My husband and I travel often and love Mexican food, but even though the entrees were good, the other factors will not bring us back.
