We typically visit the Milton Irish Eyes a few times throughout the year. The food is always reasonably good, if a little pricey for not actually being at the beach. But the bar itself has a good ambiance, and if my wife and I could opt to eat outside at every restaurant, we absolutely would. And this Irish Eyes has a very appealing outside patio. We visited on Sunday, July 3rd (22) with a friend of ours, his wife came a little later to join us. While we waited, we ordered a couple apps and drinks. We had no issues with the drinks. The bar did a great job on them. Our waitress had a pleasant personality but towards the end of our visit, her trips to our table got longer each time. The apps we received were onion rings and fried pickles. I have always enjoyed their fried pickle spears, both a unique twist on fried pickles and always exceptionally tasty. We were disappointed when they brought out fried pickle chips. The waitress explained that they run out of the spears so at times they have to substitute for them. I don't feel like that's a reasonable excuse when the menu item doesn't match what you ordered. Both of the apps were average. Not bad, but it's onion rings and fried pickle chips. You can get those pretty much anywhere. Once our other friend arrived we ordered a handful of apps to share. All of them were terribly disappointing. Buffalo wings, clams casino, steamed shrimp and nachos. The wings were tasteless, with virtually no sauce on them. My friend who ordered the clams casino laughed when he saw the portion. Half a dozen clams, but they were so small you'd be hard pressed to even call them little necks. Little necks are great steamed and served with butter, but when you're making a dish like that you should consider upsizing to a larger clam. My steamed shrimp were terrible. Rubbery, dry, and overcooked. My friend and I who both have pretty a pretty extensive history working in the food industry agreed that they must have been holding them in a steam well. The nachos were the only dish that I would describe as average. Again, nothing to write home about, but if average is your stepping off point and it just sinks after that, not a great experience. I'm hoping it was just an off day for the restaurant. But for the prices you pay, I don't think I'm willing to risk it again. There's a place right across the alley that we will try the next time we are in Milton. They have outside seating as well, and the same view as this restaurant. Very disappointed in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHavenāt been here for a while and now I now why. Decided to sit outside as it was a nice evening and there was live music. That was the best part of our experience. I am usually not one to leave a review either good or bad but this was so bad I just had to say something. When it was time to order we told our waiter that we were ordering apps then sandwiches. He said he would space it out so everything didnāt come at the same time. Well guess what! Everything came at the same time. Ok we can deal with that. 2 of us ordered sandwiches that came with soup as a side. Soup was cold. After waiting a good while for the waiter to come and ask how our food was we told him the soup was cold. He said ok just keep it and he would bring us fresh soup. He then returned and said he told the manager about our soup and it would be handled. Got our āfreshā soup and it was also coldš”. Told the waiter not to bother with anymore soup (I mean really??). Another one of our party got a crab cake sandwich which was suppose to be served with a āspecialā sauce. There was no sauce. No Mayo. No nothing. Just an old dry crab cake. It was the worst crab cake sandwich this person has ever been served, flavor-wise, on the eastern shore. So after all this we thought maybe the manager might comp us a little something since he was supposedly aware of our situation but sadly nothing was done. Had we been shown a little consideration we may have visited again. But since management was not forthcoming, we will never again go to this restaurant and will be telling everyone we know...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve had many people recommend this restaurant to me, so I had high expectations. Overall the food was good and came out quickly, but a little expensive for the quality. However I understand being close the beach I expected to pay more, but our service was honestly some of the worst service Iāve ever experienced. Normally I wouldnāt put the blame on the server, because I get it. Once we were sat at our table we waited 10 minutes to be greeted, which is understandable if it were busy, but it was quite slow. Once we got our drink and food order in we did not see our server again until it was time to ask for boxes and check, with no explanation or apology for her lack of service. Meanwhile weāre waiting in need napkins and refills, and part of our order was wrong. Not to mention our waitress seemed very tired and unhappy to be at work. Which to me just sets a bad tone as a customer.
Now this is where I want to call out the managers and not put all the blame on our server. Although it wasnāt very busy, maybe our server had a large table in a section I couldnāt see⦠but if so, this is when a manager or other team member needs to step up and help. If there is no explanation for our server neglecting her tables, then more PROPER training needs to be done. Seriously, train servers how to SERVE, not just learn the menu and table numbers. If I didnāt have friends and family recommending this spot and telling me their positive experiences, my only impression of the restaurant would be terrible. Step...
