I was very excited to try this place out as I kept seeing it all over social media. I do love me a good dumpling, especially when it’s closer than Duluth or Midtown. However, this place was a huge let down.
The exterior looked nice and new walking up. We entered the restaurant and were led to our table. They handed us a menu, pointed to a QR code on the table and told us to order from there. A bit strange, but we decided to keep going. They brought us both water (no ice) and it was disgusting. I’m not sure if they don’t have filtered water or pull it straight from the tap but it was not good, at all. We ordered the pork wonton noodle soup, pork soup dumplings and beef steamed dumplings. The downside to the QR code ordering method was that we did not get service the rest of our visit. They returned maybe once to check on drinks but that was it. We had to get our own utensils and dishes. In fact, there wasn’t even a human to deliver our food- it was a robot.
I’m not sure how you can expect a service tip when there is not much “service” to be had. We had to order our own food, remove it and send back the robot and we still didn’t have the correct utensils. For soup dumplings, you should be given chopsticks and a soup spoon. We were given chopsticks and a normal, metal spoon. If you’ve ever eaten soup dumplings, you will know that this does not work. My soup was spilling all over the steaming basket and my plate, none of it staying in my dumpling. The whole point of soup dumplings is to drink the soup and I essentially lost it all before it even made it to my mouth.
The soup dumplings and steamed dumplings were good, although we had an issue where the meat kept falling out of the dumpling. I will also add that the folds of the dumplings (top creases) were somewhat hard and cold, which usually indicates a frozen dumpling. Frozen dumplings are fine as long as you are not advertising them as fresh.
The pork wonton soup was also good. The sauce they gave us to dip our dumplings in was good as well, but there was a hair floating in mine. Yuck. And after we finished eating the meal, my mouth felt brined. All of the food was SOOO salty. Salty to the point that I was uncomfortable after eating and I found myself drinking a lot of water the rest of the night.
Overall it was not a bad restaurant but there was much left to be desired. The service was below average and the food was lacking in flavor...
Read moreThis review is for the Alpharetta location- My husband is a Doctor and I'm a RN of a prominent Fortune 50 company here that hires medical staff. This leaves us with busy life styles, lots of conferences, and at times require us to travel requing last minute Take-Out orders. We ordered two common Chineese take-outs from this place for our first visit which was the day after the 4th of July. But unfortunately the online menu didnt disclose that they make their Szechuan chicken breaded (which is unusual). Since the 1st order of Bok Choy was great and we want to support minority businesses, we decided to give them a 2nd chance. Businesses need customers money right now. So called to ask them to advise which of their menu items had breaded chicken. The guy out right refused to disclose and kept saying "I'm sorry." Sorry was not going to fix the fact that we were hungry and we desired to place an order that was safe for our allergies. I asked for the name of Assistant Manager with the intention of hoping to speak with them to have them help us understand their chicken options. However, the young man outright refused to give tranfer the call or tell what options they had. He literally did not want to help us. There was no language barrier with young man on the phone. If you want to gamble with your money, gamble your taste buds, donate money, and get poor service then go to this location. I really feel bad having to leave this review, but wouldn't want others to waste your hard earned money on a restaurant that isnt going to disclose or be transparent about simple things such as breaded vs not OR the types of vegetables included plus not even get your money back. Since they are bold enough to tell us "we don't have time for you" then they leave us no choice avoid spending our money at the Alpharetta location for our home or for our Healthcare meetings/conferences that we often...
Read moreMy friend and I decided to check this place out. We had a wonderful experience here. Firstly, the ambiance of the place was really chill. I liked the concept of ordering through a QR code since you can continously order without having to get a waiter each time. The robots were so cool to see and delivered our food accurately and at a good time.
My friend got steamed pork Jian Bao, boba, and sesame balls while I got the Veggie Noodle soup and Veggie potstickers. One aspect of this place is how big the portions are. The prices are pretty reasonable considering the food quantity and quality. My friend liked the pork Jian Bao, which she described as warm and soft. The sesame balls were delicious and not too sweet, and the red bean paste was delicious. My noodle soup was full of veggies and chewy noodles. The flavor was alright, so I do wish that I got the spicy version. However, I think the price is worth it. The highlight for me were the potstickers with their dumpling sauce. It was absolutely delicious and just steamed perfectly.
I really appreciate the vegetarian and vegan options. It can be difficult to dine at certain Chinese restaurants due to the lack of vegetarian dishes. But, this place was great, and the staff were attentive.
I would recommend this place, espicielly if you want to share food or anything. It's good place for...
