We went back after being out of the country for six weeks because we loved this place, we call it our New Tavern/Bar.
We sat at the bar, as usual, the bartender recognized us, that was nice.
Turns out they have changed their menu to an Italian theme. Now I like Italian food but for a upscale sports bar restaurant? They even got rid of their wings? What bar any concept doesn't have wings? No steak, no salmon, no fried green tomatoes, its all gone. They do still have their burger and that was pretty good along with the philly cheese steak rolls, thank God.
An Italian dishes menu? In the Hot GA Summer months? Why wouldn't you go with a menu towards the summer months and growing season - there's so much fresh greens and vegetables out there right now at all the farmers markets.
Unfortunately we won't be back because of the menu, it simply doesn't fit. For Italian night we already have our favs.
Good luck, let me know if you change it back.
FIRST Review Went here looking for a change of venue for a local sports bar type tavern place to eat. Boy, am I glad we found this place.
We started off with the Philly cheesesteak egg rolls. Oh, my gosh, they were so good, so flavorful. We just wanted more and more. The sauce that comes with it is excellent. Then we have the text backs and rolls a little bland missing flavor but okay, and then we had the artichoke cream spinach dip with truffle oil. Oh my gosh, this thing was the bomb. Loved it. Then we moved on to fried green tomatoes, which were okay a little over breaded and a little too crispy for me. But decent, then the finale, the chicken wings, very good, big, juicy flavorful.
Love the atmosphere of this place. It is truly a sports bar. There are TVS everywhere all walls in boost. Nice leather couches, places to sit and chill or sit at a table and dine, or sit at their huge bar. This place is well laid out.
I've only sat at the bar now twice and the service there is impeccable. I mean, they are on their game. Your water does not go empty. Your drinks don't go empty. They check in constantly, with smiles on their faces. I've never seen a bar run like this..
There's plenty of parking, there's an elevator or you can...
Read moreThe service was outstanding, but the outdoor tables have absolutely nothing to offer in the way of entertainment. For a sports bar and grille, you would expect outdoor TVs to watch the game or music at least. The inside was nice, but we decided to sit outside on such a nice day. The food was really the main source of our disappointment. I saw a photo of the famous fish tacos from "Chelsea Rykman" just one week ago. I ordered the same thing and my fish tacos looked nothing like hers. My fish was cubed, then breaded and fried (not blackened like the menu suggested). I would have done a blackened mahi like the menu suggested, or maybe a hand beer-battered fish that was fried before being chopped or cubed. No flavor to speak of on those tacos; there was no mango in that topping, and the tortillas fell apart before I could get it to my face. I ordered fries and coleslaw on the side. The fries were actually really good, but the coleslaw was disappointing and potentially unsafe. Tricolor coleslaw should be...Tricolor. Mine was pink through and through, and it tasted like dirty dish water (update: I had an upset stomach after). My date also had coleslaw with her meal, and it looked and tasted to be from a completely different batch, but also lacked seasoning, particularly vinegar, celery seed, and salt. Coleslaw is generally mayo OR vinegar based; theirs is both. Which is fine, that's the way I make it at home too, but there wasn't enough of either to really make it a "coleslaw". We also ordered the Italian club Sammy and it totally and completely lacked any flavor. The "pesto aioli" was like the oil off the top of the pesto jar (no aioli to speak of) and it was SOAKED and DRIPPING with oil. We agreed that maybe a pressed panini would have been so much better. Anyway, can't say enough about the excellent service, but we left disappointed and would not frequent the place unless the food/menu/cooks were to change and/or standardize quality. Might maybe try again in 6 months or a year to see if they've made...
Read moreTerrible drinks, I mean terrible. Please remove the "famous" black bean burger from your menu, unless you meant it to be famously bad. It is essentially refried black beans on a bun. Atmosphere is great, beyond that I am not sure what the appeal would be.
In reply to the owners: First things first, I left a truthful review and do not expect to be told that I am somehow wrong for "blasting a small business"? I didn't "blast" you, and last time I checked, you don't get a pass for poor quality simply because you are a small business. Entitled much? Secondly, I did, in fact, let the bartender know about the first TWO drinks that were bad. She made a third, and at that point...what was the point? I didn't finish it and paid for it. You're welcome. The black bean burger was bad, it was, as I said, cooked black beans formed on a bun. It did not come as it was described on the menu, and yes I also said something about that and she tried to make it right by bringing me what was supposed to have been on it (arugula) but as it already had soggy iceberg, again, what was the point? Even if it hadn't come out with the wrong accompaniments, it still would not have been a black bean BURGER. It was a pile of cooked, refried, whatever you want to call them plopped on a bun. Please refer to the photo. I ate the tomato and lettuce with the bun....but according to you I should have said something more? I notified her that it was wrong and then didn't eat it. I guess it is my fault that your staff are not trained properly. My bad. And lastly, there was no conversation with a GM, uless your GM was...
