I try to support local businesses whenever I can so giving 2 stars isn't an easy thing to do. But, in this case, it's all I can give them. I've been coming in mid-afternoon for a couple of months and each time I hope the crew of barista's is heads up enough to create an ambiance of a young, urban cafe. That includes the sound level of whatever choice of music they prefer. Sadly, they do not. Excessive loud music is perfect when the cafe is closed and the crew is cleaning and closing up. It is not good when customers, who are paying to enjoy a coffee or tea drink while talking with their friends find themselves shouting back and forth. That's fine if you're in a club, drinking & dancing. It's not good for a cafe. If the goal of the owner/management is to move customers in and out quickly, then they are doing an excellent job. If the goal of the owner/management is to create a loyal customer base while expanding that base with excellent reviews and recommendations, that most likely wont happen. I truly hope the owner/management reads and responds to this review and at the very least, reminds their crew that customers do come first when you're working at a customer service job. Just to offer a little background on this reviewer, my son has been in the entertainment business for more than 30 years, performing at venues all over the world. I have been to more concerts and clubs than I care to mention so I do understand the difference between loud music and excessively loud music...when and where it's appropriate and when and where it is not. A cafe serving coffee, tea and pizza is not the environment...
Read moreAnodyne is a great local roasting company in Bay View. They roast their coffee right in the store. Their branded items are very cool (think mugs and the like) and make great gifts. Their cold-press coffee is delicious and worth stopping in for.
If you like to work in coffee shops just be aware that they have free wireless internet (ask for a card at the desk), a variety of tables including a large one for several people, but the roasting process is loud and I notice every time I go an odd aroma that gives me a headache. No one else I know has experienced the strange smell with accompanying...
Read moreThey have a small seating area outside (not on KK but the side street). They will bring your beverage out to you there, by which I was pleasantly surprised. There are both picnic tables and plastic chairs at wooden tables. Got here at dusk and be forewarned - there is a pretty big spider with her home in the brick wall where the seating area is. She came out after dark and I screamed when told there was a spider behind my head (yes, I have arachnaphobia). Everyone around me turned to look and we all had a little giggle and spider discussion, so nice...
