El Beso Mexican Restaurante & Cantina at the Gateway to Milwaukee — Restaurant in Milwaukee

I have been to this restaurant plenty of times but i will never return again! I have seen videos online but I never thought this would’ve happened to me. We first arrived there we sat by the bar in a booth. We waited about 10 minutes before we were approached by a rude waitress. The bartender saw we were not getting serve he told her to come to the table.. she didn’t but when she did her attitude was visible. I asked if the water was filtered she spoke so low but said idk it comes out of a soda machine. Idk .. her attitude was bad right away. She walked away from us so quickly we couldn’t order anything else. She returned with drinks, so I asked if we can have chips and salsa.. she rolled her eyes and left. Again we tried to stop her but she left. Bartender was watching the entire time. I was so embarrassed… so I asked for a manager. I got to meet the manager away from the table. I guess as I walked away the other bartender and the waitress laughed at me which I didn’t care. My daughters did tho. My youngest was afraid to eat the food at this point. Spoke with the manager I asked her to talk with her I let her know I have been her plenty of times and never got treated like this before. So I thought the manager could control her employee but I guess she gave her more guts to be more rude. She came to the table what do you want to order. I asked like what wrong is there a problem. Now we still couldn’t place our order. She put her hand up and said do you want another waitress walked away. Manager walked up my oldest daughter told her what happened and it wasn’t right. Manager said yes that was wrong got us another waitress . My daughters ordered I didn’t I couldn’t eat food where I am not wanted. I watch this girl serve other tables laughing in my face bartender kept looking at us.. it was a situation I should have recorded.. I know this happens but I wasn’t prepared I was shocked. My bill was almost 100 I never got anything for my experience.. I feel so embarrassed I won’t go again.. places like this get away with treating people wrong. I am a manager I would have corrected the situation. I am still upset and it’s 5 in the morning. Helped me not to ever eat at a restaurant again. Yes we are black woman.. I get it the narrative that black woman are mad all the time showed it’s self here. Idk what do say or do.. I guess nothing… maybe I’ll look into putting out a video on...

I recently dined at this restaurant and unfortunately had a less than pleasant experience with our server, Ana P. As someone who works in hospitality, I understand the challenges of the job, but her behavior was disappointing.

From the start, Ana was rushing us and unwelcoming. Despite 4 out of 6 of us still having half-full plates, she brought over to-go boxes. At that time we were only there for 20 minutes. Later, when only two people at the table were offered dessert, she brought the check without checking in with the rest of us. Two of us were interested in dessert, but we were waiting to ask until we had finished our meals, particularly because we were hoping for ice cream.

When we mentioned wanting dessert, Ana responded with a rude tone, asking, “What do you want?” while we were still eating dinner. When we asked for a moment, she rolled her eyes. Unfortunately, she never returned to check on us about dessert again, even though she knew we wanted it.

When it came time to pay, we asked about splitting the bill, and Ana insisted it wasn’t possible. However, we later discovered we could use multiple cards to pay, making her resistance feel unnecessary and frustrating. Additionally, after bringing the check, Ana never returned to the table to collect it, forcing us to find another server/host.

While walking past the hostess stand on our way to the restroom, we overheard a conversation between Ana and the hostess regarding our party. While we understand that staff may occasionally need to vent, we believe it would be more appropriate to do so away from the customers or after they have left, rather than in such close proximity to the main entrance.

While the food was good, Ana’s lack of professionalism and hospitality made for an unpleasant experience. As a regular diner who typically tips generously, I unfortunately could not give her the usual 25%. I would suggest avoiding Ana P as your server, as her attitude and service left much...

El Beso is a great place for authentic Mexican food at a fair price. This was our first time here and we will be back whenever we are in Miliwaukee.

We only had appetizers and they were all very tasty. We started with the queso fundido en salsa verde with chorizo. The portion was more than enough for four people. Since it was just us two we took half if it home to enjoy another day. We then had the appetizer sampler which comes with a variety of food, fluaitas, quesadia, chile relleno, shrimp al mojo de ajo and chipotle chicken wings. Let me tell you, this assortment of food was fantastic and filling. Again, we took half of it home to enjoy because it was just too much for two people.

We wanted a causal dinner so we sat at the bar. Ofelia and Liuis took great care of us and provided friendly reliable service with a smile. They both kept checking back with us and made sure we had everything we needed. The way they interacted with us, you would have thought we have been coming here for years. We highly recommend that you sit at the bar if you want to feel like you are a VIP We are sure El Beso's other wait staff is good but we will always be sitting at the bar when we come back.

One thing we did notice was that all employees where helping one another at all times. This is very important to us because we don't like to see some employees working hard and others just standing around doing nothing. This is a good reflection on the management staff because it shows that they train their staff well and make sure veryone is equal.
