Favorites Restaurant & Lounge — Restaurant in Milwaukee

I would first like to thank the owner of Favorite's for providing a nice chill place to relax, have a drink and some good conversation. The ambiance in the place was really cool aside from the box of chicken that was sitting on the floor in front of the entrance. We maneuver pass that and enter where the waitress walks over but never greets us. The bartender finally greeted us after noticing that we looked confused (thank you). We were eventually sat at a table with a piece of paper to scan by the same waitress who did not greet us ( red braids) she never gave us her name. She walks away and does not come back for about 10 minutes and finally brings us water, but not enough only 3 waters for a party of 4. We ask to order before Happy Hour is over and she says where is my device, she leaves and returns to take our order. We get the order done and now we did order 7 drinks it took her a good 30 minutes to come back. And we all did not get our drinks at the same time. I have to give it to them the drinks were ok ( thank you). Maybe 10 minutes later one order of onion rings came to the table ( everybody ordered an appetizer except me), the waitress finally come back with 5 glasses for the lemon drops that we ordered. I HAVE NEVER HAD A MORE BORING WAITRESS SHAKE A DRINK, ( I figured she did not care about the tip. I mean what's the point in pouring it at the table if it's going to be blah. She comes back with the other drinks. We are chatting and drinking and time goes by still Noone has brought the other apps to the table so someone gets her attention and asks about the other ones she goes to check, comes back 5 minutes with one of them 👀. We ask about the other one she says it will be out shortly, it eventually does. The onion rings were best, the brussel sprouts a NO and the fried green tomatoes had no seasoning. The waitress took too long to bring the bill and cash us out. There was some weird charge on the bill that stated SERVICE CHARGE for 18% but the amount was not equivalent to 18%. Ooohh wait did I tell y'all they gave us ketchup packets and we sat down to eat. I thought somebody said this was upscale and ooh yeah the cutlery was plastic. I stopped in out the whim. I was in the area and saw the restaurant close to Favorites, that I had googled. While looking for parking I saw Favorites. Im like I just saw the ad for this spot on Instagram. Let me check it out. On IG it looked like a VIBE. I got stopped by security at the door and I asked him, which spot was better, the one next door and this one. He said that he could honestly say this food is much better than the other one. I walk in and what I saw on IG didnt do it ANY justice! It was a whole VIBE. FR. Everyone in there was dressed to the 9. Great music was mixed into the wonderful ambience and upscale decor. The place has space and high ceilings. I looked around and notice an outdoor patio and people having a great time. It was just my luck when I walked to the counter and started asking questions about recommendations, the owner was providing the recommendations. She recommended the catfish. Im like cool, I'll try it. I had to get back so I couldn't stay and enjoy the energy like I wanted to. I ordered a drink. Something she suggested. When I tell you, she didnt steer me in the wrong direction, she didnt. Then her husband the other owner walks in and we chop it up, while I'm waiting for my food. I didnt bust the container open until I got in the car. I looked at it, I'm like it looks picturesque. But when I took that first bite and heard and felt that crunch! All the seasoning in it, how white the inside was etc, I had a quick thought to save my wife some because by far, this was some of the BEST CATFISH, I've had in years. I called my buddy that does restaurant reviews and told him he HAS to check this spot out!. I recommend anyone in the Milwaukee area and or Northern Illinois down to Chicago to check this spot out and put it on your list of must tries. I chose to patronize this spot for their "Neo- Soul" night and I was extremely disappointed in my experience. Upon my arrival I was informed there would be a $150 sit down fee. From my understanding this fee was simply to be able to sit at a table and enjoy the music and atmosphere overall but did not include any amenities. After about 20 minutes I was finally greeted by the waitress so I could order food and drinks. It took an additional 30 minutes for my food and drinks to arrive. My drink was incorrect, the waitress could not exactly tell me what drink was served to me, and my food arrived in a to go container with no explanation. I had previously saw other patrons receive their food on actual plates with silverware so this was disappointing for a dine-in experience. Additionally I had to request plasticware, condiments and napkins nor did I ever receive the additional cup of water I requested. The waitress hardly came back to the table to check on us and it was difficult to get her attention.
