A friend recommended this place because I had told him I was craving burgers due to having the best bacon cheeseburger I've ever had just a week earlier at that one place where those 5 guys are always bragging about their burgers but I didn't want to splurge $20 just for a burger and drink (no fries).😜 Looking thru Oscar's menu, their burgers looked promising and they were only half the price of those guys' burger. I was going to the winner's circle so it was only befitting that I ordered the Winner's Burger! Unfortunately, I wasn't a winner because I ordered take out. That said, this review should be taken with a grain of salt because burgers are meant to be eaten "fresh off the grill" and I did not do that. I arrived about 20 minutes after placing the order and it was already sitting there waiting for me... I finished the fries before I even touched the burger. That's not to praise to fries, i was starving! They were something any home cook could've done- I wouldn't have deemed them restaurant quality. When I finally got to the burger, so another 20 minutes after picking it up, I was a bit disappointed to see all the great ingredients that were listed, including the bacon, were grounded up together into a mush that was plopped on top of the huge medium well (I ordered medium rare) angus beef patty. Although, by this time, the burger was all soggy, all that mashed ingredients really didn't do anything for it. It was a letdown. However, as stated, burgers should be eaten fresh off the grill so I will give Oscar's another try and I will dine in. But I'll be ordering something other than the...
Read moreJust a continuation of great burgers as the Pierce location. Only this joint has new style burgers! Thumbs up to Oscar for stepping up and trying new things with burgers and having success with it. These new burgers have Mexican style toppings on the like Salsa Verde, Chicharron and Chorizo for examples. The combinations are very delicious! If your tired of the same old burgers and are tired of the Red Robin over priced chain burgers and the Not in Milwaukee, Milwaukee burgers try something refreshing and new at Oscar's! You won't regret it! Since this new location opened in my neighborhood I have been their twice. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual with modern touches inside. Their wood lacquered tables are clean and don't smell like dirty rags like some other places (Red Robin). I can't remember how many beers were on tap but there was at least twenty and they were pretty much all Milwaukee brewery beers! From City Lights, MKE Brew, Lakefront to Pabst! They have a large selection of alcohol for your mixed or straight drink needs! Anyone that has ever visited the old Winner Circle bar in the past I will have you know this is not the same place! Fully remodeled and beautiful! Their outdoor seating will open up later but expected to be just as nice as the inside! Weekday lunch was a little busy but that could be because they just opened but there was no wait both times I went. Go visit and support local guys doing...
Read moreWell, well, Mr. Oscar Castañeda. You and your team have worked your burger magic again, and for that I am grateful. Your new restaurant is smartly designed and a welcome rehabilitation to an old West Milwaukee space. And the burgers you sling are every bit as tasty as the ones at 17th and Pierce -- perhaps even better, as they push the boundaries of what a burger can be.
Case in point, the Bahn Mi Burger. This is what I had on my first visit. Topped with sesame garlic sauce, melted fontina cheese, sliced cucumbers, cilantro, and pickled radishes, carrots, and onions, dare I say this'll be the burger on my next visit too? I think it will, because this is one tasty meat sandwich.
Plus you upped the ante on the craft beer selections. I totally dig that. Classified by style, there is something for everybody, including my go-to beer to pair with a good burger: Miller High Life in a bottle.
That's dining perfection there, my friend. With a game on the telly, a friend at your side, an Oscar's burger and a bottle of Milwaukee's bubbly finest, NOW you are living...
