Terrible manager. Every year I make 200 sandwiches for the homeless shelter. I have always come to GFS marketplace for supplies. In the past I have tried to call in an order in advance and they told me that the 40lbs of ham I get sliced isn’t a problem and to just come in and have it sliced the day of. Well this year I arrive to the store to see that a few weeks ago, GFS made a policy that you need to order sliced deli meat 24 hours in advance. I asked the manager if she could make an exception in order to feed the homeless. “Sorry, no exceptions” she couldn’t have cared less. I pleaded several times, explaining to her that I have tried to order in advance in the past and been turned down but going forward I would be sure to do so if they could make this one exception. Nope. It was 930am and I was 1 of maybe 4 people in the store. I know a lot of company that go out of there way to help local charities, GFS wouldn’t even help facilitate another person that is trying to feed the homeless. What a joke. As a former Reinhart and Sysco food sales rep I remember the industry having a little more customer service than I just received at GFS....
Read moreIf you need food in bulk or even if you don't, you should be shopping here. GFS has name brand food items and the kind of things you might see being sold at say a high school sports game and say to yourself "I wonder where they got this from? I've never seen it sold in these huge quantities at my local grocery store." And the answer would be GFS. I'm not entirely sure how it works, because I like going to stores that are clean, well-organized with great parking, but you can even place your order online. The employees are relatively friendly, but I wouldn't expect to see a bunch of them; rather there's just enough workers to answer questions. The prices are super reasonable too - it probably helps they don't have plastic or paper bags, but they do sell cute little insulated, zippered bags for a couple dollars each - how cool is it that they care about the environment...

I overheard him say he has been working a really long shift today (stretched since they need to find more employees to hire) and he looked visibly tired. When I walked into the store he greeted me, he saw me in the aisle by the frozen food and asked if I needed any help, and was courteous at checkout. If it was me in a similar situation after a long day, I would have probably been crabby.........
Mr Adams was not, and just reinforced the good customer service that I received in the past while shopping at this location, for my Sunday community meal...
