This was my second time being here and I enjoyed the first time but don't remember what I got. This time I went with my gf and sister.
For appetizers we started off crab rangoons and tom kha. The crab rangoons were nice and crispy on the ends. The filling was a nice soft crunch into a delicious crab filling. We all really enjoyed them and had to split the last piece haha. The tom kha was very coconut milk heavy and not spicy at all, pure white color. It had a nice sour and sweet coconut milk flavor and came with mushrooms. I thought it was really good and different from most tom kha I've had in the past and so did my gf, my sister did not like it.
For entrees we got the beef teriyaki, Volcano chicken, and Beef fried rice. I got the beef teriyaki and it came with jasmine rice, bean snaps, carrots, broccoli, and onions. The beef was very tender and came with a decent amount of protein. The teriyaki sauce was coated well onto the meat and tasted very balanced. It wasn't too salty or sweet like some teriyaki sauces. The vegetables tasted incredibly fresh and had been lightly seasoned and had the teriyaki sauce on them. I really enjoyed my meal and would get it again. My sister got the beef fried rice and she really enjoyed it and almost ate it all even though it came in a huge bowl. I tried some of it and found it to be rich in flavor and had all of egg in it which I love and would get myself. My gf got my personal favorite of the night, the volcano chicken. It was fried chicken and sauce with a bed of veggies and jasmine rice. The chicken was again huge in portion, crispy, and pre cut into slices. The sauce on it was a huge draw for me because it was something I haven't tasted before. It tasted almost like a sweet and sour sauce with a strong chili pepper flavor but not spicy. It just had that flesh part of the chili flavor with the sweet and sour which I found to be delightful. Definitely what I'll be getting next time and we all three will...
Read moreFor years, this has been my favorite restaurant but I’ll NEVER go back. Today, I ordered my usual meal: Hawaiian Fried Rice w/ Tofu on the side and an order of the Sweet Potato Tempura.
The Hawaiian fried rice was way too salty and the rice seemed a bit soggy. There was obviously too much of a certain ingredient but I’m not sure what.
The tofu was harder and crunchier than usual, I had a feeling that maybe it was old and had been sitting out or it was not cooked right. Usually, the tofu pieces are soft, fluffy and fresh. They weren’t even hot or even warm for that matter.
Same thing with the sweet potato tempura. It seems as though it had been sitting out or that it was not fresh.
I honestly didn’t have the energy to take it back and complain (I usually have NO problem doing this) so I just took this as a loss and I’ll never spend my money there ever again. I’d rather make it myself or eat at a different Thai restaurant.
Another important point, this experience was my final straw. I’ve had problems with snobby or overly annoying waitresses in the past (2 in particular, I wish I remembered their names) so I resorted to only doing take out the past couple times I ordered from Thainamite to avoid those waitresses. But now I seriously have a legitimate reason to not eat there anymore.
I don’t know if there’s new management and new cooks but their food and service has definitely gone way down hill and I already heard that the Brookfield location has been terrible from the start so I suggest that you just avoid Thainamite all together and search for a better Thai restaurant. It’s not worth the attitudes from the waitresses or the inconsistencies...
Read moreIt'd been 5 years since I dined here before today. Couple years prior to that, I had left working there (for three years) to move down to Georgia. So I have a pretty solid sense as to how this place works, what the standard is for the food, etc.
Might I say, when I asked the waitress if Mom and Dad were still cooking, I was saddened to hear that she didn't know who I was referring to, but I remember that funny old couple was taking the time to train their protégés with the utmost attention to detail. And when the food came out, it was every bit as good as I remembered and still the best Thai food I've had in five years. The sushi menu has clearly expanded since then as well and hasn't declined in quality.
The waitress was busy as heck but still managed to get my complicated, "remind me of the good old days" nitpicky modifications to the Pad Thai correct to a T. Some people knock servers for being too busy to stand there and listen to their life story, but I know how it goes, especially when it's busy and you're working alone. And given how the pandemic has impacted the restaurant industry across the board, I gotta say, Thainamite is still holding it together very well and I look forward to visiting them again once COVID is under control, whereupon I know they'll come through stronger than ever. I'm glad to see that they're still going to survive.
P.S. If you want to enjoy a Pad Thai the same way we all used to, ask for them to throw a fried egg on top of it. It'll...
