Very disappointed in the service we received at this bakery. I ordered a Chocolate Temptation cake for my husband's 40th birthday a month before the party. I know Sciortino's does not bake their own cakes but orders them wholesale and sells by the slice. I explained that I would like a whole cake (12 slices) saved for us to be picked up.
A week prior to the party, I called again and confirmed that my order was received and will be fullfilled. We arranged to pick up the cake Sunday morning. I was assured the cake will be ready for us.
Then, literally 3 days before we were supposed to pick up the cake, I received a call from Sciortino's saying that they will not have the cake and moreover will be closed on Sunday for a family event. The tone of the young lady who called was very unapologetic and she seemed annoyed that I had questions. She also did not offer anything to make this right for us and we were left scrambling last minute to find dessert for the party.
I expected much better from this...
Read moreAuthentic Italian bakery? Ingredients say otherwise. Recently purchased some pizza dough and was disappointed to notice the ingredient list with THIRTEEN items including bleached + enriched (two harmful processes) flour, and partially hydrogenated soybean and cottonseed oils (both of which are highly processed/refined, inflammatory and CHEAP). For the record, partially hydrogenated soybean and cottonseed oils were officially banned in the U.S. on 6/18/18, but they still appear in the U.S. food chain. Both are also banned in Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Iceland, Norway, and Denmark. Somehow, in its 13 ingredients, this dough is missing yeast? Pizza dough has FIVE ingredients: flour, yeast, salt, water and olive oil. Make your own food people, and always - always read the ingredients! I hope Sciortinos has the integrity to make an authentic pizza dough in the future, unfortunately they've lost me...
Read moreSesame Bread Sticks were beyond stale. I understand selling old stock, but at least mark it down and/or give a little container of olive oil/balsamic vinegar to dip it in.
If you can't get bread sticks right (or sell fresh ones), there's no point in even trying your bread.
Cookies were decent, even if surprisingly light on taste. Mocha cookies were supposed to have some mint flavor, not the slightest hint of could be found... Raspberry chocolate cookies were a joke, a raisin is bigger than the amount of raspberry found in the cookie. Other coconut cookies were ok, but wife didn't think much of them either.
Clearly the bus driver who was raving about this place being the best in Milwaukee must've been thinking of their hey days in the 60's/70's...
Latte was good though :)
Overall, wife and I agreed, not worth...
