My fiancé and myself are huge fans of seafood and how it’s prepared and displayed on the plate/table. This by far was 1 of the worst restaurants we’ve ever been too. The young caucassian male waiter was kind and polite . Nothing bad to imply or say about him. But the fact that we shared 1 lb of king crab leds and a lb and a half live lobster tail cooked in a bag with 1 sausage cut up and 2 quarter chunks of corn on the cob. That came to $99.00 which is completely insane. Neither my fiancé or myself received a kiss or reach around before being pounded. As in previous reviews that cheap skates literally give you a pair of siccors to use for a crab shell cracker. (Cheap) my fiancé made a comment to 1 of the owners and the response she got in return was the college kids steal them so we no longer provide them as well as you receive a plastic fork to eat with. The fact that $99.00 isn’t enough profit to pay for eating utensils is insane. I’m not a picky person but for the price I believe you should at least have the basic eating utensils. The flavor of the food was at best meadiocer nothing mouth watering about it or even close to saying average or above. The table and wooden bench seats were sticky (hence) unclean. I’m not 1 for complaining but I am a firm believer that you should get what you pay for. The cost of this meal in my opinion shouldn’t have been over $40.00 we give this place a rating of 1 . There was no excuse that was viable. There were only 3 customers in a cafe that looked like it could hold an approximate 30(persons). We drove from Racine Wisconsin . Wouldn’t recommend this cafe to anyone . Saying that is real harsh. To the management more time /presitation/...
Read morePoor service, overbearing manager and lackluster food. I went to the King Crab Shack with friends based on another friends recommendation. Upon the initial greeting, I should have known that the tone was set for disappointment and an awful evening. It took a while for service from the waitress although there were limited customers in the restaurant.
The meals were served with small disposable cups, plates and forks. The food was served in a bag, did not seem warm, the flavors were weak and the items did not taste fresh. It seemed to be boiled from frozen although the cost would suggest otherwise.
The manager does not have the appropriate manner to deal with customers as he was overbearing. Visiting the table to greet us and then leave when no follow-up is needed or wanted is more than enough. With all other facts considered, it was just another strike against the place.
There was also an automatic 18% gratuity for all guests not just larger parties. I would gladly tip if the service warranted but sadly it did not. It was difficult to get the waitress in order to request condiments or drinks as they were sitting and talking with friends. If I did not hunt her down then the she would have only visited the table to take the order and leave the check.
Perhaps my experience was a fluke but with the dwindling star rating at the place, I believe that the poor service, nasty food, and bad management is the norm. Please visit at...
Read moreLove the concept of the place, I wish we had more places like this. I had been looking forward to eating here and now that I did l, don’t think it’s a place I would go back to. Every beer we asked for they didn’t have, they right away let us know what they didn’t have available which was fine, it was just soup items but when we placed our order they didn’t have two main things we wanted. Live lobster or the live Dungeness Crab. So we had to order something else. The flavors of their sauce weren’t bad but real bland. Service was not bad. Attentive. Probably because we were the only ones there aside from another table that was already eating. I did read lots of reviews on their service sucking. Definitely a pricy place, but what I didn’t like, although I understand, specially since I’ve been a waitress before is that they automatically add an 18% gratitude tip to your bill. Now like I said, food was good, service ok but deft not $32 in tip worth service. Sorry but it wasn’t. Hubby and I are great at giving tips. But I like having the right to decide how I wanna tip according to how I was served. Not how the food was, because that’s on the cooks but how I was served and that was not no $32 service....
