I just had an outstanding service experience with Rachelle from Luna's and we will be buying from them from now on. Move over Salt and Straw!! As we do on Sunday nights, my husband and I were picking out our sweet treat to be delivered via Uber eats. I handed my phone to him to choose which flavor ice cream he wanted and in his haste, he submitted the order, not realizing that the delivery address was the wrong address. I immediately canceled the order and reordered to the correct address but Uber eats charged me $28 anyway (only $5 less than the order). Uber Eats told me to kick rocks (despite being a very frequent customer), so I thought I would try reaching out to Luna's to see if there was anyway to refund the order through UE on their end. It was almost closing time and Rachelle (I'm assuming one of the owners) answers the phone remotely even though she's at home taking care of her baby who is ready for bed. I explained the situation and without hesitation Rachelle offered to personally contact UE and try to talk them into submitting a refund. I was shocked that a business owner would actually care that much to spend their own time dealing with the nightmare that is delivery apps. She texted me shortly after and let me know that UE will be sending a refund. This is SUPERB customer service. I am shook. Now to the ice cream, first off, are these pints? Because I swear they are massive. I feel like I definitely got my money's worth. My husband said it's the best ice cream he's ever had and my brownie batter ice cream was soo good. They have so many flavors that we are excited to try. 10/10...
Read moreI've learned a lot about ice cream since Luna's opened. For example, there's life after Rocky Road; it's called Drumstick. Now my ice cream life is complete. I've learned that cookie dough ice cream doesn't have to be little balls of cookie dough I have to search for, it can be big veins of cookie dough running through ice cream. I've learned that al dente waffle cones are really delicious and they don't crumble when I eat in the car. I've learned that pleasure only lasts as long as the activity producing it so when I want my ice cream to last, I should not get a waffle cone with two scoops of my favorite flavors on a hot day and then be surprised when the rate in which it melts is much faster than my consumption and that it didn't taste nearly as good after its melted all over my shirt and my pants. I'll get a cup with a cone on top next time so I can take my time and enjoy it. And I've learned that $4.00 is worth the price for my pooches to have a healthy treat frozen solid, with a lid, so I can take it home to them or let them enjoy licking it to keep them busy for at least a few minutes. Yep Luna's welcome to the...
Read moreThis place is awesome and serves up some seriously delicious and inspired ice cream with a handcrafted touch! I personally love the roasted pistachio flavor.
Here's where my inner ice cream nerd comes in: in my humble opinion, a large part of the enjoyment of an ice cream cone derives from the 180-degree latitudinal access of one's tongue to the ice cream scoop.
In other words, the scoop of ice cream needs to be perched ATOP the cone, rather than sunken down inside of it.
In this way, you are able to get the full satisfaction of licking the ice cream.
As it is, one needs to bite off dry chunks of waffle cone before gaining access to the ice cream itself. And to be clear, this is only in regards to their homemade waffle cones.
You gotta have immediate and full licking access to the ice cream.
If they altered their cone-to-scoop ratio, as in, shorten the total height of the cone so that the ice cream sticks out of it, the ice cream experience would be much enhanced. In my opinion.
Thank you for coming...
