I am a local business owner and have been going to Rice Thai since it opened in 2010. I have never had a bad experience and the food has always been comparable to other Thai Restaurant's in the area. I know that it has changed owners 3 times and my rant is with the newest owner, Paul. I have a punch card that was last used on 5/2013. I am one punch away from the free lunch and today I go in to order a to-go meal. I paid & presented my punch card. The lady at the counter processes my payment and then tells me that this is not valid at that store. I pointed out the address on the face of the card and then she tells me that it is expired. I ask her to show me a expiration date and she tells me there is no date, Its just expired. I was appalled at the fact that they signed the card less than 4 months ago and over the course of 2 years, but now that the free lunch is here, They will not honor the card and make every excuse under the sun to try and wiggle their way out of it. I mean c'mon, whats a $5 meal to keep a client and stand behind your word! Being a local business owner myself and truly not understanding how they could pull this, I said that I no longer wanted to proceed with my order and I would like a refund( and I will never take any further clients or family there just on principal and ethics). She said that she cannot refund my card so I asked to speak with the owner. She gave me a card to call in tomorrow. I stated again that I would like a refund and she said she didn't have the password to do so, but would call the owner. The server walks away and waits on a table, answers the phone, basically everything except call the owner. I now have been at the establishment over 20 minutes waiting for a solution. I inform her that I am running out of time and she still takes her sweet time. She finally gets on the phone with the owner and he gives her the password to refund my order. She then tells me that she wants to keep the punch card, and I said NO. She told me that until I give the punch card she will not give me the refund receipt. I think at this point steam came out of my ears and so she handed me the receipt. I simply will not support a business that operates this way and treats their...
Read moreThe lunch special was anything but special. I ordered the “Yellow curry” that was supposed to come with soup and a spring roll. I received the standard size cup of soup only the soup was MISSING! It wasn’t even 1/4 of the way full. At first I thought, “Oh how sweet. They gave me a sample to see if I like it. “ Nope folks that was their “complimentary soup” according to my server. Complementary my a$$. I paid for it in the “special” which only makes it all the more disappointing. Now at first I thought the young lady was confused. So I asked her two more times if she was sure that was my soup because there was less than 3 soup spoon fulls. She assured me that was it. Perhaps they should think about serving their taster in a extra small tea cup so other customers won’t get confused about all the missing soup in their standard size soup cup. If they are worried about expenses, they shouldn’t it was literally broth and rice both are pennies on the dime. They could have given a decent portion instead of a SHOT GLASS SIZE amount of soup. EXTREMELY MISLEADING! My main entree arrived and it tasted like leftovers warmed up. Wish I had known before I ordered a to go item for my dad. Which by the way they failed to add their signature invisible soup and toddler sized spring roll. DO NOT...
Read moreMilwaukie is definitely hiding a jewel. Very warm and cozy inside, never too busy. I dream about their mango curry with tofu.....it's one of the best curries I've ever had. Their pad thai, spring rolls and fresh rolls are delish as well. I'd love to say that I've tried other things, but I keep ordering those items over and over because I enjoy them so much. They also make their own unique cocktails, which are pretty tasty! The Tom Yum, for example: vodka, melon, kaffir lime leaves, lime juice, fresh ginger, a real stalk of muddled lemongrass, muddled fresh ginger and a whole dried thai chili in the glass. I'm pretty sure that each dish is medium heat by default, because I've never had to ask for a spiciness level, it just comes out perfect every time. Anyone who has been to a thai place and forgets to ask for medium spice, so they end up with the spice tray because they were made a "white people" mild dish will...
