Went for my daughters 7th birthday, and it was a little overwhelming. They had 4 or 5 parties all booked for the same time, which I can comprehend as they have the table space for it.
Our party had 3 tables. 9 kids in the party and 14 or so adults. The adults took up 2 tables, and the 9 kids took 1. Only the kids were a little crowded, so that was nice because they obviously didn't care about that.
We were scheduled from 3-5, which gave the staff 30 minutes to clean up before the next party after ours. Apparently, on Saturdays, they book sets of birthday parties. Makes sense, but that made us feel a little rushed. We could have used another hour.
We ended up saving my gifts and my mother's gifts for after the party. I also had to get my grandmother and her boyfriend, as well as the rest of the party, to some tables in the arcade area.
The games ran out of tickets often, and the prizes are the same rinky dink toys and such from when I was a kid in the 80s. It was slightly nostalgic and seriously cheap, considering each token is a quarter.
The kids each got a single pizza (either pepperoni or cheese), a drink cup, a bowl of ice cream, and 4 tokens each, for $10 per kid. We think we got 3 large pizzas for the adults at about $25 per pizza as well as a couple of pitchers of water and large glasses for the adults, and got each kid another $10 in tokens. All in all, the cost was ~$350-$400.
The bright side was that all the kids were so tired and worn out by the end...my daughter couldn't even say goodbye to everyone. We arrived with my mom, so she and I went and sat in the car while my mom played a few more games.
The atmosphere was too much for me. I've never liked being cramped in that arcade trying to get a game for my kids, nor being cramped at the tables, forever in the aisle and in someone's way when trying to organize the kids. I'm an introvert for the most part. 🤷🏼♀️
There's two adults running the place from what I could see and a bunch of teens trying to figure out where to bring the food, so the service is super, but it is what it is. It's cheaper than Dave and Busters, but you get what you pay for. The games here are old and outdated.
It'll be exciting to see how they revamp their imagine when they move to the old McGraths Fish House building in the Milwaukie...
Read moreWe visited about a month ago on a Sunday evening for a friend's sons birthday party. The place was insanely busy so it was chaotic. About 1/3 of their games were out of service or didn’t work. My husband went up to tell someone that a game wasn’t working and an older lady with white hair, probably in her 60s borderline 70s, yelled at him “I’m only one person. I’ll get to it” I thought that was odd so we waited for her to come help us. In the mean time, another game stopped working so I went up to tell her we had another game and she started yelling at me “I’m only one person! You’re gonna have to wait!”. I immediately went up to the counter to find a manager and when I went up to talk to her she was acting extremely rude to another employee who was trying to get an answer from her about something. She then started talking with me and was very straight faced when I was talking with her. No remorse. No apology. Just that she would talk to her. We went back to playing what games were working and the manager proceeded to come talk to the employee who originally yelled at both of us who was filling a game with tickets only 50dt away and started pointing at us saying that we were complaining about her and her attitude towards fixing the games. We immediately played what tokens we had left and gathered our things to get prizes. When we went up, the ticket machine was broken so we waited about 10 minutes for them to fix that and then the white haired employee was now helping the prize counter and she would not help us get prizes. She’d help other people who came up after us and even another customer commented how weird it was that she was ignoring us and apologised that she cut in front not knowing. Absolutely ridiculous behavior from employees working for an arcade establishment. And completely appalling behavior from the manager for calling customers out and not handling the situation behind closed doors. You both need a write up and coaching and/or fired. You don’t treat customers like that who are paying to be there. And if you’re that miserable working there to treat other employees or customers that way, find a new job. No one is forcing you...
Read moreI stopped by Pietro’s Pizza today (Monday,5PM) during a bike ride through the neighborhood. I’d heard a lot about this place—it has deep roots in the community and recently moved locations, so I was genuinely excited to finally check it out.
Right away, things looked promising: the smell of fresh pizza was in the air, and there was even a bike rack outside, which is always appreciated. I walked in ready to eat, took a moment to review the menu at the “Order Here” counter, and waited to be helped. That’s where things started to go sideways.
Nobody was at the counter, and while I could hear employees laughing and talking in the back, no one came out. I wandered a bit to make sure I wasn’t missing another ordering station—just a salad bar, a game room, and some curious diners probably wondering what I was waiting for.
After a couple of minutes, an older employee—possibly the manager or owner—who had been on the phone in the waiting area noticed me and kindly said she’d get someone to help. I appreciated that and thought help was on the way. But after she called back into the kitchen, things got oddly quiet. A few staff members walked deeper into the back, and one employee even made eye contact with me from a distance through a window—but still, no one came out.
At that point, the whole situation became awkward and honestly, uncomfortable. After standing there for a while longer, I decided to head out. On my way, I held the door for a few families coming in to enjoy their meals—hopefully with better luck than I had.
Maybe I just slipped through the cracks. I understand how busy or unpredictable things can be in food service, and I know this place means a lot to the community. But as someone without that emotional connection, my first impression wasn’t a great one. Not sure if I’ll be back, but I do hope others have a...
