Wong's Garden — Restaurant in Milwaukie

I ignored the bad reviews to give this place a chance. They have been around for over 30 years. That would make you think that the food should be decent if they are able to stay in business for that long but, no. The service was good. But the food was almost inedible. The appetizers were decent. But when the chicken came out I knew I was in trouble. Deep fried like it insulted the Chinese government. As dry as it gets. Flavor ? You ask if it had flavor? Nope. Not a spice in sight.

But dont take this one star as a reason not to eat here. If you want to over spend and get the equivalent of dollar store chinese. Then you'll love it. But on a plus side. Noodles. Not too bad.

Wong's Garden has been a long time favorite. I like that everything tastes different not like steam table Chinese food. The prices are reasonable. I love the General Tso's chicken though there's no vegetables with it and I like the vegetables and pork. The pork in it is the barbecued pork slices. The Kung Pao chicken is really good and I assume the shrimp would be as well though I've not had it. The hot and sour soup is some of the best I've had and their egg flower soup is good. Also their wonton soup is very very good. If I'm not feeling well it's something I'll have my husband pick up and you can get extra broth for I think it's a dollar or it used to be but it's a whole second container of broth and usually it has some vegetables or something in it as well so I always do that. Went to their place yesterday. Wearing required mask.. No in house dinning only take out...fine.. was looking at the menu.Wanted to know if the lunch.menu was still in effect. The woman was perturbed and checked the time and said "No.", then a male owner(?) exchanged places with her behind the.counter after 2 mins.instead oof allolooking us to look over the expensive entres he impatiently told us to take a menu and wait outside until we knew what we wanted.. no one else was in the run down place. I don't know what he thought. We had our Vax cards but they didn't required them. No outdoor seating...so why the rude behavior? Not worth the shifty service...
