I loved the receiving spirit I felt as I waltzed passed the threshold entering the restaurant. Not everyday 'ALL staff smiles @ once is if they were programmed to do so on one accord. Smilingly people smiling back at me with respect, I could tell. Everybody was concerned with what I needed, I was overwhelmed with their wanting to care for me, repetitively asking me if everything was okay. I feared the niceness @ first like we Americans so often do. I thought to myself "how so unusual to be treated nice for no apparent reason.
I began to ask the staff thousands of questions. Surely they wondered who I was but honestly I was just a bystander in awe of the way I was being treated. I wanted to know more about why they 'all smiled so much. Why were they so nice, one young male staff had created his own sandwich at the restaurant inwhich I took the liberty of ordering by before I left.
He told me the life history of the restaurant, I was impressed beyond my 58 yrs. to listen to a young man recounter to a stranger the' Purpose / Mission of the company. "Yeah," says the young man, "even l have weeped the benefits of a second chance through this restaurant", he stated. "Management is awesome, the owner is beyond words. This is a 'second chance program' that Not only was helped a broken me but anybody that's willing to reach out and dig deep within themselves to 1st help themselves.
I think for the first time I fell in love with something inhuman but gave the freashes of breath, its called All Square.

Read moreAll Square is a grilled cheese sandwich restaurant on Minnehaha Ave & E 40th St, and they do what they do really good. Good cheese, truly excellent bread that is crisped just right, a range of options that make the choice of cheese sandwich fun, plus a really excellent included side salad that has just the right level of acidity to complement the richness of the melty cheese deliciousness.
The four-cheese sandwich is pretty standard and best enjoyed with a side of the fresh tomato soup for dipping. The options expand from there.
I highly recommend the jalapeno popper cheese sandwich: sharp cheddar, cream cheese, pickled jalapenos, and candied bacon. SO GOOD. Why did I never think of this combination before?
The prices are reasonable, the portion size is good, the service is very fast, they're open for lunch and dinner service 5 days a week, and they've got indoor, counter, and patio seating, so there's something for everyone. 100% plan to return in the future...then there's just the eternal debate between trying something new and ordering something I know I really love.
As a bonus, they are a non-profit that supports social justice and the reintegration of those affected by mass incarceration. So eating there is good for both...
Read moreHad the most pleasant experience here! The staff was very kind and welcoming. I like the way you pay for your meals and the systems they use. Not to mention, they have their own merchandise and there’s nothing better than supporting a local business with their clothing, earrings, etc. The music and atmosphere was delightful and had a very good vibe. I love love love the food! I suggest the jerk chicken grilled cheese. Had no idea that they would serve a side salad with your meal. And it tastes so good! I tried both of the soups, couldn’t pick my favorite because they were both delicious! I do enjoy that they have beer, wine and a self serve water station. And the bathrooms were very inviting. There were not specific men’s or women’s bathrooms. They were simply for “whichever” person would like to use them. I love that! My experience was more than exceptional. I will be back and will suggest this place to everybody. Thank you all so much for a wonderful experience. It’s nice to see a local business doing so well and making everyone feel equal. Thank...
