Decided to try this place out twice in one day because why not? We arrived at the cafe around 11am and there was a small line almost out the door. The service wasn't fast but courteous and welcoming. It is apparent the staff are still working out some kinks but nothing major that took away from our experience. The miso ginger caramel latte works so well - such a good flavor combo. Really enjoyed the potića latte my partner got as well. Good selection of pastries - we went with the apple turnover and butter croissant and they were delicious. If it's possible, I would find a way to label the pastries so staff don't have to explain to every customer what each item is. While half of our drink order was made incorrectly, it was quickly corrected.
Dinner service was much more tight and efficient, which I anticipated. Simone may be one of the best servers I've ever experienced! She was lively, funny, knowledgeable and personable. We solely ate from the 'shareables' section and I found everything to be portioned well. The dry rub wings was some of the best I've eaten! The seasoning is remarkable - don't change a thing! The duck fat fries were equally delicious. I would've liked the dijonnaise to have a stronger taste with lemon or garlic but I realize that's my personal preference. Next was the curried cauliflower that was served with raita. Although delicious, it wasn't a favorite of the night. Lastly the braised lamb hummus arrived and it was certainly a favorite of the night! The lamb was very tender and the extra crispy chickpeas on top was a great touch! Loved the tender and homemade flat bread that was served with it - amazing!
Sadly we were too full for the saffron pots de crème and couldn't get it to go (already set in small mason jars) and unfortunately the ice cream machine was down during our visit (a complimentary item). Perfectly fine as we will...
Read moreSlow and error-filled service, a very poor start to a new neighborhood restaurant. It is ridiculous and shameful on the part of the owners to demand payment and gratuity upfront before a service is even fully provided.
Where to begin. Maybe with part of our simple beverage order being forgotten? Or with our food sitting too long in the kitchen, being delivered to the table lukewarm? How about when following up at the coffee bar (where the full order was initially placed) looking to know the status of our food items and being told that they had nothing to do with food service, that we would need to track down and follow up with a server ourselves. Seriously? Should I go back in the kitchen and expo my order, too?
For their part, staff was relatively pleasant and apologetic, and I don’t find issue in overlooking small service mistakes. However, the lack of proper response we received over and over was disappointing and frustrating. The only rectification were told would happen is that out forgotten beverage would be comped, but since payment was immediate, I guess we will have to watch our bank account over the next few days to see if that is true. Thanks for now ensuring a problem is extended over multiple days!
As a new establishment, there is no better time than the present to establish what service standards your patrons deserve to receive from your team. I would hate to think my brunch experience accurately reflects those expectations.
I would love to have more go-to neighborhood spots to enjoy a meal, but this is not looking to be a future contender. I will certainly be sharing my experience with other neighbors, and hope to see changes made...
Read moreI’ve never written a review before, but now that I’ve been to Lynette a couple times now (perks of living down the street) for dinner and for coffee/pastries I feel qualified!
I was very excited when I heard the former Riverview Wine Bar location would be transformed into Lynette’s restaurant. My first visit was for dinner to celebrate getting married the weekend before. We sat on the patio, which I have to say is SO lovely with the pergola. My biggest qualm with the previous patio was that it was open to the fairly busy intersection of 38th and 42nd. The pergola makes it feel private and quiet somehow.
They have an excellent cocktail menu, I started with the Paloma and ended with my first dirty martini (I figured out I don’t like them, but that is no fault of Lynette!). We were pleasantly surprised by the non alcoholic menu, they have several options which my husband appreciated! We split the duck fat fries and the wild mushroom pizza. We practically inhaled the fries and had to stop ourselves from eating the whole pizza so we could have leftovers the next morning lol.
My other two experiences have been for coffee and a pastry before starting my work day. Coffee is very good! I typically get a vanilla latte, which is only offered in one size. I don’t know if they make their own syrups but the vanilla is very good! I’ve had the heirloom tomato danish (?) and an apple turnover. Both pastries have been phenomenal and FRESH!!
I’m so glad Lynette is in the neighborhood! I will be a frequent flier...
