We went here for the first time having high hopes but in general we’re disappointed. I have a lot to say.
The good: the coffee was great and so was the atmosphere.
The restaurant is counter service style so you order yourself at the counter and seat your self and get your self water and utensils, I am very pro this style! However it was INCREDIBLY expensive for it to be counter service. I pay and tip for the customer service and payed $100 for three coffees and three entrees the pricing was absurd for what was being given.
The coffee it’s self was very good but too soooo long to get to us we were sitting for 20 minutes before we got our drinks because it seemed like only one person was trained on how to use an espresso machine and was backed up (it was not very busy!)
Then came the food. One of us got soup and salad, one of us got the waffle, and one of us got the corn beef hash, the food took FOREVER almost an hour to come out which again it wasn’t busy so it seemed weird.
The salad and soup: their soup of the day was French onion and I got the lustrous salad. Starting with the soup this really wasn’t a French onion soup more of just an onion soup. French onion soup has bread, cheese, and not a clear base. This soup was a very parted and had no cheese and no bread, so no it’s not French onion but it was onion and still okay! The salad was supposed to have peaches, it said on the menu and it was never mentioned to me it wouldn’t but when I got my salad it had apples and no peaches which was just not want I wanted but oh well I ate it, it was still a good salad but I was expecting peaches.
The corn beef has: we had a server come to us around the 45 minute mark of us waiting for our food telling us they “rung in” the wrong order which wasn’t true as we can see what they punch in when we ordered because it’s shown on the iPad when ordering so idk why they lied to us and didn’t just say the kitchen messed up when they clearly did. Anyway we end up waiting another almost 30 and when we got the corn beef hash the dish was VERY BLAND like almost no salt even. Which is ironic because they asked if we wanted the “spiced version” or not which we ordered the spiced. Asked for a poached egg but it came with a very over hard poached egg. We received no compensation as well for the wait and miss hap and again we paid so much that it just sucked.
The waffle was good! But again took so long
In total did not have a good time waiting on a non busy time for so long was absurd the food wasn’t very good and WAY over priced for what you receive. Would not recommend sadly did not have a good time and probably...
Read moreI’ve been meaning to try Darling since it opened, and I finally stopped by for brunch this past weekend with my mom. It was thoroughly pleasant experience, but with steep prices and small(ish) portions, I can’t say it will enter my brunch rotation.
I ordered a refreshing and creamy mango concoction. I really enjoyed it, but I think it would’ve been even better with tapioca pearls or mango jellies.
My mom and I split the avocado toast. The bread was so fresh and might’ve been made in house, but I can’t say for sure. The avocado was perfectly ripe, and I loved the crunch of the seeds that garnished it.
My main dish was a mushroom tartine with fries, and I loved everything about it. I just wish it were slightly bigger. Thicker bread might have helped. The fries were perfect, and the ketchup tasted house made.
My mom ordered the corned beef hash, and she loved the spice level and the roasted veggies. She’s used to a shredded hash, so this was different, but she still enjoyed the meat preparation.
Darling is a great spot to check out if you’re looking for slightly pricier brunch with fresh, intentional dishes. The dining area is bright and charming. It’s nice to have a cute spot like this in the...
Read moreOkay... So I may as well call this place my secondary kitchen. Is that telling you anything?
Darling is an eatery I am infinitely grateful for. I work a few blocks away and probably grab lunch here 3-4 times a week. Seriously, it is blocked into my budget. 😂
The staff are so friendly and helpful, the chefs are fire (every dish is consistently delicious, ingredients are fresh, cooked to perfection), and the overall vibe at Darling is peaceful and refreshing. An excellent break from my office walls, for sure!
They have outdoor seating that gets lots of sun and beautiful flowers abound their front boulevard.
If you like farm to table, delicious, healthy options, this is your spot. They also have a few health elixirs at the bar. I do not drink, but it looks like they've spent some time on their craft cocktail menu for those interested. They have a customer reward system and their seating is wheelchair accessible with no stairs for their entrance and tables and chairs that can be easily rearranged.
I highly recommend the Cesar salad with their homemade brioche croutons, the grilled ruby, or any of their decadent breakfast options.
Thank you so...
