Galapagos Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Minneapolis

It pains me to leave such a poor review. I really wanted to like Galapagos especially after being so warmly welcomed. I loved the music and ambiance, and the service was top tier. I just could not believe how bad the food was. Yuca frita was decent, but the fried trout and the shrimp were basically inedible. They were so far from fresh it was astounding, especially for the price ($27 and $18 respectively). The salad served on the side was somehow wilty without seeming to have any dressing. The rice and beans had good flavor but were so salty I had to tap out after a few bites. Honestly I should have sent the food back or refused to pay for the entrees. I didn't want to make a scene so my fiancee and I boxed up our mostly uneaten meals to throw in the nearest trash can...

Yesterday I ordered the Encocado Mixto entree which was $16.00. I added a side of patacones, and with delivery this came to $30!! The entree, what there was if it, was delicious, however there was so little if it, it was like a sample of the dish, slightly more than a cup, with three shrimp snd s couple chunks of fish in about 3/4 cup of broth. Since it came its rice and patacones and there was a much larger portion of rice, there was nothing to eat with the rice it dry patacones. About 4 bites, snd now I’m left with rice snd patacones. Today I’ll order a shrimp curry from an Undian restaurant to pair with the dry rice and patacones. There is NO excuse for this miserly portion. I definitely wasted $30. Never will I order...

Drove past and thought we would try it out. My wife and I both love Peruvian food. The Ecuadorian food did not disappoint. It reminded me of the home cooked meals we had when we stayed with a family in Costa Rica. Nothing fancy just flavorful delicious food. We had the empanada de carne for app. It comes with 3 empanadas. Delicious. I had the Seco de carne for main entree. Flavorful and delicious. My wife had the Lomo Salgtado. It was also delicious.
