On Saturday, 2 girlfriends and I went out to support a friends band that was showcasing at dcb. While parking wasn't half as bad as we expected, that was the only good thing about our night. From the moment we walked in the first door, our entire night was micromanaged by this establishment and the employees. As we walked in, we were asked to pay the $5 cover to support the bands ( this was not a problem as we were prepared for this.) we looked around the crowded bar and the only seats that were open were 3 stools at the end of the bar by the kitchen. We finally made our way over to the bar in as we pulled the chairs out to sit one of the bartenders let us know that they were taken. We then stood there for another 10 minutes and finally were able to order our drinks. they do not serve liquor Even though we had stamps in our hands we were asked to show our ID once again to order a beer . There was a couple that was standing at the chairs and they grab their drinks and left so we decided we would sit at those schools that were originally taken. Once again the bartender rudely told us that those seats were taken and we could not sit there. Luckily, we were able to find a table that some people were leaving. About one minute after we sat down with our beers we were asked once again to show our stamps and ID. A gentleman came around and picked up all of our beers from the top (where you drink out of) and put costers underneath. Since there are only three of us went to a smaller table opened up we decided to move over so that a larger group would be able to sit at a table as well. Once we moved over we found some menus and decide we wanted to order some food. We sat there for 15 min before deciding we needed to order at the bar, since no one had been around. Once I got up to the bar I asked if I could put in an order for food. I was told by And employee that I would need to wait and somebody would be around. About 10 minutes later someone finally came around to take our order. When we started to make our order we were told to slow down and talk louder. After our order was taken the same gentleman who came around to the first table came around to our second table and proceeded to put coasters under our drinks once again holding it by the top of the the class. While normally this would not bother me the fact that he came around four more times to pick up our drinks and place them on coasters was irritating. After ordering our food I decided to go out and have a cigarette. While there wasn't a lot of space on the patio there was still an area to have a cigarette however many of the guests that were sitting outside or not smoking and they had plenty of rude comments regarding the smoke from the others that were smoking. After walking back in I was once again asked to show my stamp and my ID. We were asked atleast 10 times in the four hours we were there to show our stamps and id. Our food came out at separate times in the $12 pizza we purchased was not correct. We were never asked if everything looked correct and we were never asked if there was anything that we needed. So if you were looking for a night out on the town or are looking to support your friends well they showcase their band I would suggest going elsewhere. Unless you appreciate being micromanaged every step...
Read moreI belong to a group that encourages people to support local music and make new friends to go to shows with. I went to the driftwood to meet a few fellow group members and check out the show. Flyer said show started at 9 pm and was meeting my friends there at 8 for drinks and maybe food (I don't know if they even serve food) . I was a bit early (7:30) so I decided to have a seat outside and wait for my new friends to arrive. I was holding a Golden ticket card in my hand which was how we were going to recognize each other from the group, kinda like name tags. The second I sat down on the patio chair I was harassed and kicked out by a tall, big belly, wild haired man. He began to slam me with questions and wouldn't let me get a word in to explain why I was there. He accused me of all sorts of things and being up to no good and said I wasn't welcome there because they had no idea who I was. I found it odd but introduced myself and stretched out my hand for a handshake and he said "I don't touch you people". Said I needed to message them ahead of time for permission if I ever wanted to enter the place. I asked to speak to whoever was in charge but he blocked the door and told me to leave and that he had no time or desire to know who I was or why I was there. I didn't event get to touch the door before this man told me I was unwelcome there. I've NEVER had anything like this happen before. I'm not a white man. I hate to pull the race card out but I seriously have no idea what else would have enraged this man so much from merely the sight...
Read moreI posted a review last week but apparently there's a way to remove it, so here's my review again .. Last Saturday went to go see my guy's band. Larry, the sound guy said we couldn't have anything in front of his speaker or even stand there. Okay, that's fine, dude. The band did one set and because other bands had cancelled they were going to play 2 sets to make up some time. The singer said we're going to take a a break and come back and when we got back from break they said they were shutting the bar down. I walked up to Larry and asked him if they were really shutting the bar down? He told me I don't even want to talk to you! Ookay. The waitress walked up to me and told me to get out and to finish my beer. Not even 2 minutes later she walks up to me again and said you really need to finish your beer and get out. I told her okay again but I need to help load my guy's drum equipment. She then asks me are you in the band? I said no, not officially, but I guess I'm the Roady. Then I laughed. She said you know what? You're cut off and snatched the glass out of my hand! Wow! They shut the bar down on a Saturday at not even 10:30 yet! The staff is super rude and needless to say we are...
