Moo Goo Gai Pan is very standard Americanized Chinese and I mean that in a good way. It's one of the healthier comfort foods you'll ever find, and I particularly appreciate the fact that there isn't a ton of sauce, which means the bottom 1/2 inch of my fried rice isn't all soggy (I got the combo). Speaking of the (pork) fried rice, now that is very good and is a cut or two above what you usually get with a combo platter. If it had bean sprouts I could eat a whole quart of it as a meal. Eggroll is also a cut or two above the usual. Very tasty and not dripping with grease. Because I wanted to be sure I got nice and full, I also ordered beef Yat Gaw Mein soup. (That turned out to be unnecessary, as the portions are ample.) It's fine but nothing to get excited about. Plenty of noodles and an adequately savory broth.
Good stuff. I'll be back to try something else. Probably the chow mei fun.
If you like basic Americanized hole-in-the-wall Chinese food this place will do you just fine.
Update: I've been there three time now in the space of about two week magnificent. It's all been totally Americanized, of course, but they do it super well. I've had Moo Goo Gai Pan, Chicken w/Almonds and Pepper Steak so far, and they aren't just the same old (but decent) that I've already had dozens of times. Just super good standout flavor. The pork fried rice has been outstanding every time, the best I've ever had from a hole-in-the-wall, and the egg rolls have been really great and somehow manage to still be crispy three hours after purchase, kind of amazing. They definitely roll their own because they're different than any I've ever had. Their steamed rice, even, is also cooked absolutely flawlessly. It's so good that I've eaten it cold the next day, no need to even heat it up. Crazy right? And they're generous omg, containers packed as full as it can be. Going again tonight and I don't know how I'm going to decide what...
Read moreGreat food. Not just breaded fried stuff. Veggies on point. Good portions for price. Go with bigger if one meal. You can get two meals of it. Small portions for shared meals. Cheaper and more variety. The combo meal is just a smaller version of plates and no extras. So for a dollar or two more order the meal itself not the combo meal youll get 2 meals from the plate itself combo meal is half size and just as much price wise. The language barrier is the hardest part of this establishment. I have been going here 15 yrs and today I tried to ask a question about delivery. They had no idea what i was saying. I have never felt understood here. But the food and price is Amazing. Many times i have overpaid and not been properly serviced because of the language barrier. Bigger sizes of what i ordered . Double orders. I like the food and always pay for the mistake. But imagine if i didnt have the money. That would be hard. Luckily i have just payed for the mistake and took the extra food. And enjoyed every bite of it a day later. Or sharing with somone. The online order is the easyiest way to order with no mistakes in communication. I use it a lot. But i hate paying the $1.50 to place a order over the phone or internet. Say you forget something and add it to order another $1.50. Can add up. Wish someone there spoke English properly or even halfway. So i do order by phone when rushing home in car. 99%problem free. Do yourself and wallet and cheap friend a favor. Order from this wonderfull place. They don't exist like this anymore. The price points are just so mind blowing. And so is the food. I wont say everything is good as we have different tastes and preferences. But if you eat veggies and meat combined in a asian form this place actually has vegetables! And cook them to perfection not...
Read moreI’ve been going here for about a year. I liked their food and had even recommended them to other people. Today I got my favorite, Mongolian Beef, but there was hardly any meat in the order. The beef pieces were tiny slivers or even crumbles of meat. I called to tell them, and they offered me $5 off my next visit. I told them I would rather bring it back to show them and get my money back. When I got there the lady was very rude and loudly complained and yelled in front of everyone in the restaurant. She told me that’s the way they make it and everyone else likes it. I told her I have eaten there many times and it is never like this. I also pointed to the picture on the wall that they have of the dish and said that the pieces of meat usually look like the picture. She then said “oh come on, everyone knows the picture is not the same”. I told her that one of the reasons why I kept coming back was because their food did look like the picture. She just kept throwing her arms up in the air making a scene. I think the last time I had to return food must have been 15 years ago? When I was young I even worked in restaurants so I understand how difficult it can be. This woman could have handled this situation differently. She could have made the meal over, or she could have just given me my money back and apologized. Instead she yelled and tried to humiliate me, refusing to listen except to argue about everything I said. I gave their food a “2” because in the past it had been good. In the end, I found the same dish at another restaurant for $2 more with large pieces of beef, traditional ingredients for the dish and very friendly...
