The service was absolutely terrible! Avoid at all costs.
I began placing an online order at 7:00a and finished shortly after. There is no ASAP button and all online orders are set for pick up on the hour— I did not want to wait until 8:00 for pick up so I chose 7:00a despite it being 7:08a when the placement of my order was complete. Before I could arrive for pickup they called and asked if it was for asap, I said “yes, there was no option for immediate, so I chose 7:00a” they said, well you can always write it in the comments. See you when you arrive.” Not very accountable, but okay.
I arrive for pick and see my three OJ sprawled on the pick up table, I request a carrier. There are no straws, I search and am directed towards them. I ask for napkins, and am told they are inside of the stapled bag (they were not), finally I ask for jam and the response is, “it doesn’t come with jam.” I say, “okay, but is there jam available?” She repeats her first response. I ask again if they have jam and she says, “yea, it’s over there.” At this point I’m livid and before I can finish saying that I don’t mind paying for the jam, another employee comes out apologizing and offers me jam which I further explain that I would happily pay for if the other person would have simply behaved as if the jam was available for purchase or that she was even interested in making the sale. She apologized profusely, handed me the jam and began to speak to the employee. Not a great experience to have first thing in the morning after a 15% tip on a takeout order that was...
Read moreWhat a lovely surprise that our family happened upon while getting haircuts just around the corner. Each of us had something different, the varying breakfast sandwiches and the Best Dang Burger and all of us thoroughly enjoyed. Our son really loves to say BEST DANG BURGER any chance he gets now. HA! But here is the deal, I haven't stopped thinking about the fried chicken bacon and egg with sausage gravy breakfast sandwich that I had. No seriously, for over a month, I think I've thought about it at least a dozen times. So today I returned, nervous that I had not remembered correctly, maybe it was not THAT good. Well after practically licking the gravy bowl, I just want to confirm, it was THAT good. In the foodie world of known places because of Insta and hipsters, while SSB has been around awhile it was new to me and I just love it for that. It is high quality and feels comfortable...under the radar for trendiness that has taken over Mpls. Haircuts will now center around eating...
Read moreWas able to sneak in Sunday without a wait. There is usually a line, lots of energy in the room and delicious bakery items. Always fresh bread, soups, and hot drinks. However, I always stop in for the biscuit sandwich. The size, flavor and variety of toppings is perfect for brunch. The chai is just sweet and spicy enough. at times overly spicy. I still enough sipping. The room is usually noisy, the cars zoom by on Nicollet Ave and the owner usually working and serving right along with the staff. The bakery is delightful. So many unique flavors and mixtures of textures. From croissants, to cardamom twists, graham crackers, cookies and more. An array of figurines for children to play with while they wait. My mother enjoys their weekly pizza night. I haven't tried the french toast yet, the guest me ordered, and the strawberries looked delicious. Soups and sandwiches; the menu has great variety and something for everyone. A true South Minneapolis...
