This whole experience came to $20. the base egg & cheese sandwhich is $9 and adding sausage made it a $12 sandwhich. It was too slimey to eat between the mayo and the "nice and soft" bread, so I had to toss it. There was so little coffee, that it was gone in two minutes. So I am essentually right back where I started, needing to go out a second time for coffee and breakfast.
I don't like bashing independent places like this, but this whole experience was a fiasco from start to finish. Also, ironically, their menue says "sandwhiches to 'your' taste." I don't know how a place that seems to be inflexible in every way and without even basic options, pitches their business as if they are ready to cater to a customer's tastes. At the very least, get a container of...
Read moreThe word that comes to mind is “okay”. Everything was just okay about our experience. Got an egg sandwich with sausage, and hashbrowns on the side.
Hashbrowns were okay, not much flavor, a bit more greasy than I like.
My partner and I shared the sandwich, and neither of us were able to finish our halves as after a few bites we lost our appetites. It was just okay. The focaccia was a bit flavorless, the egg was only as good as you’d expect at any restaurant, and the sausage was fine but a bit pink in the middle. Hard to undercook a 2mm thick smashed sausage patty (I actually did like the smashed aspect) but they managed to. The cheese and aioli were so overflowing we had a mess on our hands, not ideal. And the garlic of the aioli was super overpowering the rest of it.
The coffee was okay. Ever had a coffee with no discernible flavor other than, well, yep that’s coffee? That’s okay, they’re not a cafe, so it did the trick.
All in all it was okay. Won’t be back, can’t even say “glad I tried it once” because for a 45 minute wait and $30 it was a perfectly forgettable breakfast. Many better breakfast sandwiches in the twin cities without the wait.
My scale for reference: 1: Avoid 2: Wish I hadn’t bothered 3: Good once, probably won’t be back 4: Great, will return 5: Amazing, can’t...
Read moreI can only recommend this place for neighborhood residents coming in for take out and there are probably better options. I came all the way from downtown St. Paul on multiple buses on our transit system. The food is okay. Basically it is an overpriced Bruegger's Bagels breakfast sandwich. The hashbrowns are McDonald's style, very greasy and also overpriced. There are simply not enough places to sit for this to be an enjoyable place for lunch or breakfast at busy times. After coming all the way over from St. Paul, my choices on a subzero day were to wait for a seat to open up while my food grew cold (most of the few tables are for groups) or to eat outside and get frostbite on my hands or take it with me while waiting for the next bus back to St. Paul (while my food also got cold). The staff were rude and made it clear that food could not be consumed at the waiting area counter despite no signage to this effect. I would also note that the ice on the side walk in front had not been treated so I nearly slipped on my way back to the bus stop which would not have been a good thing for a 56 year old. A disappointing experience and I definitely will...
