A Disheartening Experience at Moose Monroe If you're a Black man or woman looking for a fun night out, Moose Monroe should be the last place you consider. My friends and I recently went there for karaoke night, excited to sing and enjoy ourselves. Unfortunately, we were met with blatant discrimination that left us feeling unwelcome and disrespected.
When we first arrived, we joined in by singing along with a few performers, enjoying the energy in the room. My friend then decided she wanted to participate and wrote her name down for a song. Initially, she wanted to sing "Take a Bow" by Rihanna but hesitated, fearing that the karaoke director might not allow it because it’s a Black artist's song. Instead, she changed it to Brett Young's music, hoping to avoid any issues. Brett Young is a very well-known country artist, so there should have been no reason for his songs to be unavailable.
As the night continued, other participants were called up—some even performing multiple times—while my friend continued waiting. At one point, the karaoke director took the stage and encouraged everyone to come up and dance. Interpreting this as an open invitation, I joined in, believing it was meant to be an inclusive moment. Instead of simply letting me know she wanted to perform alone, she physically pushed me off the stage. I was shocked, embarrassed, and humiliated but chose to brush it off.
After she finished singing, my friend patiently waited for her turn. She had initially requested "Mercy" by Brett Young, but after a long wait, she was informed that the song was "unavailable." She then selected another song by the same artist—"In Case You Didn't Know." Yet, despite watching others get called up for their second performances, she was never given her turn. Instead, the director came back again, claiming that her second song was also unavailable, while everyone else had no trouble getting their songs played.
At that moment, we knew exactly what was happening. We were being deliberately excluded. We felt so uncomfortable and unwelcome that we decided to leave.
Experiencing racism firsthand was a painful reminder of what it means to be Black in America. And before anyone attempts to invalidate my feelings, let me be clear: this is our lived experience. Too often, when Black people speak out about discrimination, we are met with dismissive remarks like, "Here we go again with the race thing," or told that we are "reading too much into it" or being "too loud." But our voices matter. Our experiences are real.
If you’ve never had to question whether your presence was truly welcomed somewhere, then you have no right to dismiss what we go through. Walk a day in our shoes, and then tell me how it feels.
This is my first time ever leaving a review about a place, but after what happened tonight (January 30, 2025), I couldn’t...

I have been to the moose several times for bingo Saturday's and enjoyed spending time with my friends but after last night I will not be returning. As a lot of the other reviews mention, the moose has a “dress code” and the bouncer at the door last night targeted a LGBTQ+ friend of mine. The bouncer was making my friend lift up his shirt repeatedly and was examining him so excessively it made our entire group extremely uncomfortable. He was wearing a button down shirt and kakis, but since the kakis weren’t designed with belt loops, he technically was not in accordance with the dress code. Not to mention that I was wearing stretchy pants with no belt loops either and I was approved no problem. (I also saw other (likely) straight white men in the bar wearing sweatpants and shorts.) This interaction between the bouncer and my friend really upset me so I called the bouncer out on it. This sent the bouncer on a power trip and then started harassing me- telling everyone around him to watch out for me, pointing at me aggressively, and telling my male friend he is “doing him a favor” by letting me stay in the bar with them. The aggressive behavior made me feel extremely unsafe. Aren’t bouncers and security guards jobs to make sure we feel safe and protected?
We tried to not let it ruin our night and continue to have a good time, but ended up leaving after a little while.
I would ask yourself when deciding what business you want to spend your money on if you want to support a business that doesn’t take any action to address racism, homophobia, and sexism that is blatantly present at this bar. There are so many great bars and restaurants in Minneapolis who care about your safety and welcome all humans regardless of their race, gender, and sexual identities. Minneapolis...

We got the wings but when we asked can we have two different kinds they said yes but then upcharged us $2 dollars for two different kinds! What restaurant charges you for the flavor that they put on the wings? We ordered hamburger/beef pizza (1 topping pizza) then they brought us the Cheeseburger pizza with pickles we have an extremely picky eater, so we sent that back and waited for about 30 extra minutes for that to be ready! The pizza ended up being good though. We ordered a drink and asked for the price $5.50 (reasonable) and then we ordered top shelf long island, well it ended up coming to us wrong according too how we ordered it, then the drink was still not made right, then they ended up charging us $18 for top shelf long island. where do they charge $18 for a long island?! On the tab it said they charged us a double. Then charged us for dipping sauce for the wings! Originally they gave us the wrong tab that had the wrong pizza on their and then when we were showing the waitress the tab she snatched it out of our hand! They upcharged us at least $13 so watch out for the extra charges thats how their able to have cheap prices on their menu cuz they get you on everything else! And they don't show prices for drinks on their menu! So don't let the prices fool you, you'll end up...
