Sal's Italian Ristorante Shoppes at Monarch Lakes — Restaurant in Miramar

I've been a customer of Sal's in Miramar since moving to the area a few years ago. The food and service used to be outstanding. I don't know what happened. Now, every time I order for delivery, they get the order wrong. I placed an order a couple of months ago and they sent my chicken wings covered in spicy sauce when I ordered them plain. I called and they agreed to send the correct order. About 10 minutes later, the young lady called me back and stated that I would have to give them back the wings that were previously delivered in order to get my correct order. I said fine, I don't want them anyway. but why call me back demanding the wings when it was their mistake to begin with? I found it very rude. Then, when they came back with my new batch of wings, they got the order wrong again! I called to speak with the Manger and after keeping me on the phone for 20 minutes, he agreed to refund the price of the wings. I never received the refund. I decided to give them another try a few days ago and ordered three items to go. One was the Fried Mozzarella. When I got home and opened the container, the mozzarella was so burned that the cheese in the center of the mozzarella sticks had disintegrated. I had empty breaded tubes. It was disgusting. I have noticed the food and service going downhill for awhile now, but kept trying to give them another chance. Never again. Especially since they raised all of the prices on the menu AND now charge for delivery. So...

I hate to say this but Sal's lost it and me. I remember getting great food with prices and service being adequate. We tried them a few months ago and was not impressed with the pizza quality. Too mushy, Sauce fell flat, flavor wise. We gave them a 2nd chance this past weekend and upset I did. We ordered a large Calzone with meatballs, pepperoni, and sauasage. It was shameful in filling. Barelly any ricotta cheese, Pepperoni, or sausage. Thry made it very large by using a large amount of dough but forgot that a calzone is to be filled. The sauce tasted like it was about to turn. Not good at all. For $27, i expected better for an established restaurant like Sals. We added a side salad for an additional $4. Wow, the smallest salad ive ever seen. 5-6 leaves with a light dusting of shredded carrots. Honestly insulted at how small it was. I would have filled my fork maybe 1.5 times before it was all gone. I get it, rent is high, ingredients cost more ...they raised their prices. But they also cut corners on quality, and portions. Also, I called to place the order for pick up and if paying with card, the girl refused to allow me to pay in-store. I HAD to give her the card over the phone and gave the impression the order would be refused. Walk into the restaurant, they clear as day take credit cards. Terrible Tuesday! The experience has compelled us to never to go back! To begin, the bread was not delivered, the salad plates were never picked up from the table, two of the pastas were undercooked, and one of the pasta dishes was simply cold. As the night progressed, the waiter , 'pony tail', guy was increasingly frustrated with us, the customers. The one bus boy was doing his very best, yet he was the ONLY one... The other unnecessary experience was the one guy with an apron that during our entire stay hung out by the table of two females chatting with no regard to his being on the clock -- an over processed blonde who told us ' she was annoyed by our concerns across the way because they were her friends." At one point, the manager did his best to come up with insensible excuses, but he gets credit for trying. My personal favorite was when our 'pony tail' waiter indicated that the inconsistent pasta was a result of a new trainee. In the end, the waiter lost his patience, and was very rude!!! Our family has been going there for years; not again. Soon, this restaurant will go into the annals of bankruptcy. It seems that they have lost the awareness of the role customers play in the success of their business. I'll make sure that I spread the word.
