Went in for lunch, and had the Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos, in the 3 course meal. That included a salad, 3 Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos, and a Brownie for dessert.
I had the Cesar Salad, which though, not exactly small, was disappointing. The brownie, also was tiny for what the pair added to the price. But the Tacos were absolutely DELICIOUS, and saved the meal from being a pricy disappointment, and to my surprise, filled me up completely! I'd been nervous that I would leave hungry. But I left happy, if a little fatter. đ« Though not much. In fact the Tacos just made it impossible that I not eventually return for more, and if the rest of the food is as good, I'm going to be addicted!
I thought I took a picture of the Tacos, but evidently, I'd only INTENDED to. I am including a pic of the brownie, such that it is.
They don't really do lunch, although they open at 11 AM, so it's rather expensive for a lunch.
Which brings me to the service. While the chef, who came out and walked the floor several times during my meal, actually taking orders and speaking to people, was great, and obviously took a great deal of well deserved pride in his work, when I walked in, there were about 3 tables of 2 to 3 eaters, and no one at the door, bar, on the floor, and despite me positioning myself to be easily seen by the staff I could see leaning against a kitchen wall laughing and talking to someone unseen, and calling out two or three times, it took several minutes before someone came rushing out to greet me. This inattention occurred again, when I wanted to get a refill for my tea, this time the person seemingly making eye contact with me two or three times, until I finally got up and walked into the kitchen to ask. Despite the fact I again called out two or three times, and this time was â the distance away.
The only thing, despite the chef, that kept me from giving a 1 star for service, was the helpfulness at the end of my meal, as I was looking for a take-home menu.
Lastly, I am going to officially complain. The cold weather has caused the fuse for my cigarette lighter in my car to go out, so for the past couple of days I'd been unable to charge my phone in my car, And when I asked for a seat near an outlet that I could charge my phone using, I was told that after a recent remodel, they no longer had any electrical outlets in or among the seating, though they did offer, eventually, to charge my phone behind the bar. Similarly to my other experience with the wait staff, it took prompting twice for them to actually plug it in. Which is the reason why I didn't take pictures as soon as I got my meal.
Considering the world we live in now, and how essential smartphones are to everyone, the idea that a restaurant would have no available outlets at tables and booths It's just a little mind-boggling to me, and keeps making me want to bring that service star down...
Read moreWe loved the food. Got the hamburger meal and the stuffed tilapia which both were amazing. However, the waiter that we had was very disrespectful. We came to have dinner here with my husband's co-workers. When the waiter asked is this our first time, my husband's co-workers said it was their second time while my husband and I said it was our first time. The waiter ignored us and directed his attention to my husband's co-workers. Hence, as the waiter continued his rude service, he asked my husband's co-worker what he would like to order, my husband's co-worker told him, "Let's let the ladies go first" as he was looking at me. The waiter looked at me and looked right back at my husband's co-worker and asked him again what he would like to order. My husband's co-worker repeated his initial response. Then, the waiter rudely commented, "It's the 21st century, I serve left to right and then, right to left." He disregarded the simple fact that my husband's co-worker was being polite and a gentleman that, we ladies, should be served first. Not that we expect it or feel entitled to be served first, it was just the polite and ethical thing to do regardless what century we live in. We're not sure what era this rude waiter lives in or how he strongly feels about serving ladies first, but her surely showed how he has no respect for women. I go on to say this that when the check came and my husband gave him our card, the waiter rudely made sure to hand me the card with the bill instead of handing it back to my husband. This waiter surely has women issues in his life and possibly treats his own mother and grandmother with disrespect to have the audacity to treat us women including at our table with such disregard and disrespect. Mind you, I'm no feminist and don't ask or demand respect or authority over men. My husband and I have an amazingly loving and respectful relationship and treat each other as equals, but my husband treats me like a lady as he as the gentlemen. So, for us to get treated this way at what we call a five star restaurant, it was a very uncomfortable and discriminating experience we ever...
Read moreAbsolutely the worst dining experience I have ever had at this restaurant. To begin with the corn/clam chowder I and my friend ordered as an appetizer was barely lukewarm. When we notified our server, she removed the soups and then brought them back to us, but they were still lukewarm and even more appalling, they were not freshly prepared as I was served my friends soup to which she had added pepper! After we sent these back a second time, the manager brought out "fresh", hot soups and took them off our bill. I ordered the lump crab meat and avocado salad off of the specials menu, but requested an alternative dressing to be served on the side as I did not think I would like the agave lime dressing that came with the salad, plus I do no like a lot of dressing on my salads. Needless to say, the salad came out drenched in the lime dressing, but still with the blue cheese dressing on the side. I sent the salad back because of this, and after waiting some time another salad was brought, but it was obvious that the almost non existent crab and other toppings still had been mixed with the dressing. On top of this, the avocado on the salad was frozen !! Yes, frozen and this was on their specials menu. When I got my bill, the salad had been removed (it was $18.90 for a pathetic spinach salad) and the manager gave me a $25 gift card. But, it gets even worse. I told our server that I was a Dine rewards member, so when she brought the bill she said my current reward had been applied, however, the kicker is that the only items left on my bill were alcoholic beverages to which rewards can't be applied, so my $5 reward vanished. On top of this, the aforementioned $25 gift card had an expiration date of 3/31/24 and today is 3/24/24 !!!! Needless to say, the $25 "gift" card went in the trash and the $5 reward I could have used at Outback or Carrabas is gone! I will never be back to this restaurant in Mishawaka as previous meals had not been so good either. This used to be a very good restaurant, but not...
