IHOP — Restaurant in Mishawaka

We went in even though I was skeptic due to all the reviews. (Sat, 11:30 am 9/15/2018) There were several people waiting to be seated. As my son and I waited for someone to take our name, so that we may join the waiting list, in the time I waited, I noticed some things:

1. around 15 people waiting to be seated with their names already on the list
2. several open booths/tables
3. no waiters or waitresses on the floor
4. only one person working as host/cashier and he kept leaving. When he WAS there, I could tell he was in a bad mood.
5. everyone already sitting at a table/booth was looking around intently like, "where's my waiter?"
6. of the people already seated, only 1 table had food, the rest had their heads on a swivel
7. the line to be cashed out was piling up because the host left his post
8. the line behind me, to put your name on the list, was piling up because the host left his post
9. the people waiting for a table, who had already put their names in, had ticked looks on their faces and some were shaking their heads in disgruntlement

I had been ignored long enough by the host, I could see where this experiance was going to lead me and I needed positive vibes; so we left and went to a real resturant where we were paid attention to.

If I can make ALL of these observations during the time it took me to wait for someone to take my name for a table ONLY, I waited too long. I don't care if I have a gift card and can eat for free,...

We had a VERY frustrating visit at IHOP. The restaurant was pretty empty and it still took the longest time to receive our order. We took our kids there to have the grinch pancakes and hot chocolate.. My daughter (4yr old) ordered the grinch hot chocolate. The waiter brought her a soup bowl size regular hot chocolate. We ordered a kid size grinch hot chocolate. We were told that they run out of the grinch hot chocolate after they brought it out. So that was extremely disappointing since we drove half hour to get it. Also we put the kids order in with our drink order. About 10-15 min later we placed our order. We placed the order very specifically. We asked the waiter to bring the KIDS food out as soon as done. Yes as you expected it, we received the ADULT meals before the kids meals. When it was time to pay, our bill was over $50.. the waiter charged us for adult size grinch pancakes even though we ordered 2 kids size and it was the time period when kids eat free. We asked for the manager and she took of the kids meals and adjusted the giant hot chocolate to kids size. However we did not get a sorry that they screwed up our orders over and over. Her explanation was: "well, we are under stuffed"... oh okay... we won't be going back. Not worth the stress to deal with...

The service was fine, the place looks rundown with rips in the booths and needs paint. As you walk in the place looks bad.. the price for what you get is so hi, what a joke. The food was salty and tasted like they use a flavor oil. The place It's mostly a gimmick with overwhelming sugary food and small portions of basic things like potatoes and soggy toast.. I recommend supporting your local breakfast place owned by the mom and pop. Went during rush hours for breakfast and it was dead with a lot of wait staff on stand by. I'm sure it won't be around much longer witch would be a plus.

For the price the food was not worth it, you can go to any other breakfast place and be satisfied not be as disappointed as this sad gimmick of a place. Haven't been there in years, went because they use to have the options of different maple kinds of Maple syrups and flavored syrups. They no longer have that on the table and didn't see the option, This was a huge disappointment considering that the name stands for International House of Pancakes and this was one thing I felt separated them from the rest. Now it's a overpriced time bomb and I hope it goes down and closes the doors soon....
