Our first time here. We made reservations 6 days in advance because we expected it to be a lot busier. (It was very slow for a Saturday evening.) We met the other half of our party there. First they tried to seat us with the wrong group even though the reservation was under MY name. Then they tried to seat us alone, but I spotted the other half of our group already seated. So much for a reservation. They had paper table covers and crayons. The kids enjoyed drawing on the table. Our order was taken fairly quickly. We ordered appetizers, but our waiter took the entire order at once. The waiter didn't seem too familiar with the menu. He tried to tell us there was no kids wing dinner and didn't mention the all-you-can-eat option until after we'd all ordered. The food came out very quickly. Unfortunately, the one appetizer came out with the meal and the other didn't come out at all until we asked about it. There wasn't much point in ordering them. They barely eaten because we were all focused on our dinners. The seafood boils went over very well. Everyone seemed to be happy. The kids meals were ok. I got a shrimp po'boy. There was a hoagie bun absolutely stuffed with lettuce, tomato slices that were not mentioned in the menu, (I'm allergic) and a handful of shrimp with some weird sauce that also wasn't mentioned. With less lettuce, no tomato, no weird sauce and the shrimp actually IN the bun, that would be a good sandwich. I made it work and it was pretty filling. The cajun fries were ok. Overall we had a good time and it was a pretty decent meal, but there is one reason I will probably never go back - Service Fees. Don't get me wrong. I tip up to 20% for good service. I tip 10-15% for ok service. We got ok service. For a group of 5, there's an 18% "gratuity" added on. For a group of 7 or more (there were 7 of us), it's 25%. For 25%, you should be on us like white on rice. I'm talking no waiting on refills, no empty dishes, know your menu, know your specials, offer dessert, offer wet naps (I got up and got those myself), have appetizers out before the meal, don't forget appetizers, etc. This man got a $42 tip and we did not get $42 service. I probably would have left $25. Lastly, it's added on the receipt as a "Service Fee" so they actually expect you to tip MORE on top of the 25%. (There were 3 tip suggestions to choose from and you were encouraged to check the one you wanted, or there was a space to write in a custom tip.) It's not gratuity when it's forced. 25% is ridiculous to begin with. Asking for more after you force the 25% is greedy and rude. So, while most of us did enjoy the meal, restaurant policies insure we will pick a different place for our next group outing. I'm sure that's probably why they were so dead on a...
Read moreI’ve been to this restaurant twice— I was unimpressed the first time but wanted to give it another shot because I love seafood and it’s a convenient location…. 1) there’s a really weird/off putting smell in the restaurant itself. 2) The bathrooms were also dirty both times I was there— you have a clean establishment if your bathrooms are gross. 3) Some of the mirror fixtures next to the tables were splattered with gunk which added to a sickening atmosphere. 4) The first time I went the waiter was super rude when we asked questions about making substitutes. We didn’t even demand changes but we’re just curious so it was weird to get such a harsh and argumentative response. It was a younger kid. However, second time it was a different waiter who was nice and attentive which turned things around slightly. Over all, the flavor of the food is alright. But a lot of it was super tough.
The worst part and the reason it really knocked all the way down in ratings is that the food made me sick. Twice. I thought I’d give it a second chance as I wasn’t 100% sure that it was their food that made me sick but I was able to confirm that this time… if I’m going to pay almost $200 i would hope the food would be top notch. I want new restaurants to succeed in this area however this is a chain and you can tell it’s chain level food. They have the ability to turn it around and here’s to hoping. But I will not be going back with my family...
Read moreSo I was no so happy when I went there on Sunday. First off, I ordered the all you can eat menu. I ordered the appetizer fried flounder which was great. The main course I ordered 3 crab clusters with Cajon sauce on the side, along with the spicy noodles. The crab and noodles came to the table, the noodles where just cooked pasta no seasoning or sauce but I poured some Cajon sauce on them and it was pretty good. The bad thing was the crab legs. First off, they where extremely over cooked, like possibly yesterdays crab legs. The shells where very small and soft and wouldn't crack, they just bent in half and the meat was disintegrated so it was a terrible time getting any meat out of them with out a fight and then it was so small you had to go through 10 clusters to get the same amount of meat as 1 good cluster. I finally gave up, it wasn't worth my time. and my taste buds was like....Um that's not good crab. Then to finish off the day, I was handed the bill for $48.99 for the crab which I expected but then found out there is a hidden $12 service fee plus drink....So there went a fast $69.87 plus tip for the worst crab money can buy. If you are into crab legs you might want to keep driving. Service was ok, the wait staff did a good job, it was just BAD crab legs. I guess it my sour...
