Captain D's — Restaurant in Mobile

VERY DISAPPOINTED!!! I used to go to this location a lot before the pandemic hit. I live 12 miles away so it was a place I could drive to and know that I was going to get served good seafood. NO MORE!! I called today at 4:00 to make sure they had the dining area opened. It said it on the Google site that it was open until 9:00. I got out of church about 8:00, so I headed that way. When I pulled up, it was 8:25. I went over to the doors and BOTH of them were locked!! I was frustrated then. I decided to go to the drive through, get my shrimp meal and tell them that I had called and was told wrong. I pulled up to the drive through, RIGHT BEHIND this other car. The car moved up and I got to the board. I waited and waited and waited. I waited 10 minutes, nobody took my order. A pick up pulls up behind me, I leaned out of the window and yelled at the guy that I had been waiting for 10 minutes and was TOTALLY frustrated. Then, a voice came over the speaker that they were closed and that they had closed at 8:00!!!! I told her that I had called at 4:00 and was told that the dining area and drive through was open till 9:00. She told me that she was the manager and that they had been closing at 8:00 for 6 months!! Never mind the fact that there was a car sitting at the speaker box at 8:35 giving an order to her. Her voice sounded just like the lady I had talked to at 4:00pm. Needless to say, I don't like to be lied to and this is the last time I eat at this Captain D's pandemic or not. Someone needs to have a LONG talk with whoever LIED to me!! I do NOT recommend going to this Captain D's and they need to change their hours that are reported to Google because it STILL SAYS they...

This is one of our favorite restaurants in Mobile! Not only is the food delicious (with HUGE servings!) the staff is always friendly and helpful.

Last night my daughter and I were on our way home from an event downtown and were tickled to find out that they stayed open until 11 pm. We got there at 9:55 and found the door to the lobby locked with a note on it that said the lobby closed an hour early, but the drive-thru was open. We were about to get back in the car when the manager came and unlocked the door for us. I told her we were getting our food to go and could go through the drive-thru if necessary, but she insisted that we come on in. She and the other employees talked to us like we were family while we waited and made it clear that they appreciate their customers and enjoy their jobs. Superb customer service!

We already loved this place, but now I will go out of my way to eat there...

Definitely 5 stars the atmosphere, the food, and the service were all top notch. I will definitely be returning. The manager Darnell was simply amazing from greeting us when we walked through the door with a positive upbeat attitude to having great customer service he double checked our order when it came out to make sure it was correct he even made sure to ask if my husband was ok when he stepped out to take his insulin and he maintained that same positivity the entire time we were there. After a very emotional day that was exactly what we needed he definitely brightens our day. So thank you Darnell for the wonderful customer service and a much needed positivity boost from the excellent customer service to the wonderful food it was all around a wonderful experience.
