Neighbors Seafood & Chicken — Restaurant in Mobile

I have been to Neighbors several times throughout the years. I live further north, up I-65, so to go to neighbors is a treat for us. I have taken my dad there and when out of town friends and family ask for a place with southern cooking Neighbors is always recommended. So to be here writing this review was not my plans when I recommended going there tonight since we were going to be on that side of the county. We got there abt 6pm. We were greeted and told to be seated. The waitress came over and got our drink orders and brought out menus. We already knew what we wanted for the most part so our order was taken right after bring out our drinks. Things were flowing good for the first 5 mins. Then there was a 50 min time frame where nothing happened. Several customers coming in after us and getting their food but ours still had not come out. There had been no communication explaining the delay. So when the 4th table (who arrived after us) had gotten their food I went to inquire about our food. She stated the chicken fried chicken takes 15mins and our order has been in the kitchen for 25mins. I turned and went back to my table. We had been there 50min, minus 5 mins to take the order, but our order has been in the kitchen for 25mins. I don’t understand that explanation, there’s a 20min gap. We waited another 10 mins and the 5th customer, who sat down after us, got his food; I was ready to go at that point, another 5 mins our food comes out. (side note: 3 of the 5 have ordered, eaten, and paid at this point) The kid’s food (2) came out first and then my husband’s. It took a few more mins and my plate of fried livers smothered in gravy came out. I love their livers, The Best!! I could not see any batter on the livers, even though it’s covered in gravy, it just looked odd. My husband stated his rice and gravy was cold. He checked the kids fries and they were cold. I touched the liver with my folk and knew immediately it was not right, I’m so glad I did not bite into any of them, they were not cooked properly. I went to take my plate back and the waitress immediately asked to help. I told her that the livers were undercooked and I did not want a replacement; at that point I was done. As we were headed home I started remembering our last experience. It was the same way but I tried to shrug it off as they were busy. I’m not sure if managers/ownership has changed but something is different, and with this experience tonight I will not be returning or recommending...

WATCH WHAT THEY CHARGE YOU!! They will rip you off! I am very upset with my visit this past Friday afternoon to Neighbors, I am going to share my experience in hopes this doesn't happen to anyone else that is smart. I took a girlfriend of mine out for lunch/dinner with some of my birthday money I got this year, we were there about 3pm it took us 25 minutes to get drinks and put our food order in and it goes without saying for a place that only had people eating at 3 tables in the place,(and like 6 women walking around a counter, trying to look like they are doing something) yeah them not busy at all should have been a warning to me. I got the food, things that should have been hot were room temp, and potato salad i got should have been cold was warm. I even went as far as to ask who exactly our waitress was and it was all of them, so we were being neglected by many WAIT STAFF not just one. Now I will admit they are wayyy over priced on their menu, but I knew that before going, I grew up in the area and have really only ever ate here once a year because my grandparents use to love eating here when they were alive, but with today's technology they still write out tickets of your charges and they nit pick every little thing on it, I took out leftovers and a snack order to go and got charged an extra .50$ i guess for the Styrofoam container but as I was leaving I looked at my receipt and got charged $3.99 twice on my receipt, (i will add here too, I had to ask for it, they don't give it to you because they don't want you to catch these charges). I went back to ask about it, and they just tried to laugh off ripping me off, looking at the ticket that was wrote out she claimed they were charging me for a lemon pie to which I did not order! I did how ever have lemon in my tea, and for my fish and being as how there was no one in the place they expected me to believe they didn't know I didn't have this pie! I think not! Then still trying to laugh it off she said we do not charge extra for lemon, then why was lemon even wrote...

Brought my family there on Saturday September the 19th. for dinner. We were seated in about 5 minutes that was fantastic took our drink orders within a couple of minutes great. Drinks came after 15 minutes of ordering then it all went down hill from there. Now mind you there was 3 adults and one child in our party. they took our orders. after about 10 minutes of us ordering a party of 6 comes in and within 20 minutes they are eating their food now mind you our order hasn't even been brought out yet including the appetizer now. then 10 minutes later another party of 2 come in they are seated and again within 15 to 20 minutes their food is brought out now still mind you the appetizer still hasn't been brought out yet. so my wife inquiries about our order and was told "oh yours is still cooking" now here is where i have a problem for sure. the food we ordered was the same food the the other parties had ordered so if their order was cooked already where is our order. then the srever says it up now and guess what everything he brought to the table wasn't anything we ordered. the owner was there with a party of 12 people who all sat next to another party of about 15 people now mind you now this is also during global pandemic of covid 19 where there is to be no more then 6 to a party. and the other party of about 15 is a Mobile county sheriff's detective who very well known from the news. when asked to speak to the owner about the food amd service all we got from her was a " haha haha" laugh and said " i am sorry" and still laughed anout the situation. well i am here to tell you WE WILL NOT BE BACK EVER AGAIN and i will be reporting this place to the county health department and show them the video of the 2 large parties sitting right next to each other without any social...
